Reddit?

I am confused about using reddit as a social media to promote my videos. People either say you get downvoted to oblivion(and reported as spam), while others say it is a good place to show your content...

"Please post political videos on /r/politics instead, and note that repeatedly submitting content from your YouTube channel may get it banned." - guidelines
What does repeatedly mean? Like each video you come out with. It is very unclear.
Do you think it's safe to post on /r/videos? or /r/funny? Is reddit with worth these apparent "risks" to your account"

Reddit is definitely worth your time. However you must remember that reddit is a give and take community.

For people to like your content and upvote you, you need to contribute to other discussions. You have to be a redditor before people are going to look at your links the same way. They don't want people just coming in all willynilly and posting content while not interacting with people first.

Always lurk. Always comment and take part in discussions. Always learn the ways of the social media you are about the immerse yourself in.

So, I was about to screw myself over by just blindly having my first post as a video haha yeah i'll try to become a part of the community. i'm an avid user of imgur and they are both very similar, so i can get used to it. i know that karma ******* is a big no no! and i heard the golden rule is 1 out 10 posts can be your own work. how many of your own videos have you posted on reddit?

I can't agree more with this, but I have to add something. Even if you are a reddior, Reddit is such a double edged sword. People are gonna love you, or hate you so much they might wanna kill you. Or have you try and kill yourself....

Yup, but, its weird. One video they all just downvote it and I get a comment telling me to die. Next video, they all like and it gets upvoted (Not enough for frontpage of course.) and I get people saying how funny it was.

I post in r/leagueoflegends since I only do LoL videos. Mind you I've been a fairly active user.

That's just how it goes. It all depends on who sees it. And if you get a big enough audience eventually you're gonna get those people as well.
