Recording without anyone hearing me?

Hey guys! When I started YouTube my intial plan was to upload daily.
I can record every single day except, I usually record when my family
is out to reduce background noise and because I do swear in my videos
from time to time and my humor isn't exactly "PG". Also, I'm quite
uncomfortable recording while day can hear me. I live in a small appartment
with only one bedroom. SO HERE'S MY QUESTION. Does anyone know a way
I can somewhat sound proof my voice? Or even the room? Im not looking
to spend any money, just using household materials. I also have a closet but it's
filled with clothes. I think I'm going to have to record in the bedroom. Any advice or
Tips on soundproofing my voice would be a major help! Thanks!

EDIT: I Was thinking of putting chairs around me and covering them with blankets? Including the roof?

Soundproofing a room is not cheap, and the owners of the apartment buildings would not appreciate what you would have to do. What kind of mic do you use? Some nicer ones will capture less background noise. I recommend the Blue Snowball :)

Pretty much impossible to soundproof a 1 bedroom apartment (how does that work with a family?) with household items. That's too small of a space to get away from noise. You're best bet is to continue recording when they are out. If you make videos and are trying to be quiet, it's easy to tell and it's not the kind of video I want to watch. But, maybe thats just me.

don't Egg cartons work for sound proofing a room? I don't know if you could get permission for that lol But here's another idea get a cup cut off the bottom (plastic) tape it to your mouth, tape the mic inside the cup somehow! This isn't an tutorial because I've never done this but it might work lol The goal is to stop as much air flow as possible, i actually wonder if this would work lol

I tried this, my mic was too heavy and dropped on my toe, now it's broken. I am sueing you.

I have this problem too , what i do normally is record quite quiet and when editing just make my voice louder!
As for the background sound , there is really nothing you can do about this!

Buy some quilts (that go in you bed sheets) and attach them along them all around the sides of the room. this actually works as i have a freind who has a music room and one of the walls was never sound proofed, so he just did that

Yeahh some big blankets all around the walls might help a little bit sound proofing a room, but it will be only a tiny bit, it will not make a huge difference. Soundproofing a room is normally a expensive thing to do, so you'll have to start being creative here. Now egg cartons do work a bit, but I think some big, thick, heavy blankets will do more than some egg cartons.

Nah It's not just you. Same thing with me. If someone is being quiet I can tell right off the bat and it's not very enjoyable[DOUBLEPOST=1378128433,1378128377][/DOUBLEPOST]

What about if I just made a room with chairs and blankets? Would that work? Chairs as the wall? I have no idea how im going to get air xD[DOUBLEPOST=1378128584][/DOUBLEPOST]
