Recording Games Audio Issue

So, I was wondering how everyone recorded their gameplay/audio. Usually when I use Fraps, it doesn't record my mic nearly loud enough and I have to pitch the recording. What I do now is use Fraps just for game/system audio, OBS to record everything (so I can sync it later), and Audacity for my Blue Snowball. It works, but it's a pain to start everything and then sync it later. :stomp:

Anyone have any tips?

I just use fraps/capture device for ingame sound and audacity for my microphone.
And then sync it up later in Sony Vegas.

Why don't you use obs to record video with sys audio and your mic simultaneously?
I have OBS set to record everything, but I find Fraps records more consistently and with better quality. I use OBS to sync the system audio from Fraps and the mic from Audacity (since OBS has both recorded). It's also a good backup in case Fraps fails.

I think you're getting bad quality in obs cuz it compresses the video it outputs to get smaller video size. Did you set up obs properly? Anyway, you sholud consider decreasing compression or changing your output video format, also try increasing your bitrate just in case it is too low. Fraps isnt the best software to use. It is pretty bad actually

If you're using FRAPS, then you're stuck with the need for the setup to be perfect in advance. So you'd need to adjust the game volume and mic volume before you start recording.

If you look at something like DXTory, then you'll get the multiple audio channel possibility, but can retain the same or similar level of quality.

I've heard that DXTory is good (I think Sp4zie uses it) but it's a bit outta my price range I think. :(

DXTory is about $30-$35

Using what you have an syncing later is easy though. Just set Audacity to record, and then snap your fingers in front of the mic at the same time as you start the video recording. Then edit your audio and cut it at the audio spike when the finger snap happened. Perfectly in sync.
