I am now looking into doing a LIVE panel discussion YouTube show that uses Brady Bunch style video conference software and would appreciate recommendations and suggestions. If it matters, it would be an hour-long show every evening (US time) Monday through Friday and it will discuss what appeared on a certain hour-long cable network show that had just previously aired. In fact, I also want the ability to have just the panelists and myself (and possibly some paying supporters) do a private video conference during the cable show so we can discuss it amongst ourselves before doing our show.
What I am wanting to do is 2 x 2 grid of four video feeds. As moderator, I would like the ability to click on one of the panelist's feeds (or some sort of button) to have their video feed take over the entire screen. Naturally, a default button/setting that takes it all back to the 2 x 2 grid. It also needs a chatbox so viewers can submit in questions for the panel. I selecting what to ask the panel and then reading the question to them.
There are a LOT of video conference software out there. I have been reading one article after another, but they all seem to have different recommendations. However, as it will be a YouTube show and all the panelists will be YouTubers, I am guessing that I should probably use Google+ Hang-out. Most YouTubers are probably most familiar with it. That and they then don't have to then download software.
