Read The Contract Guys!

So I'm going to go off in a mini speech/rant here....I see loads of people posting here bashing networks because of the lock ins, payement thresholds and money splits. They sign a contract and then are suddenly baffled when they realize they can't leave the network then they go about bashing the network. Well I'm sorry about that but you're not the one who didn't read the contract you signed.

I don't see it here as much as I used to but this is just something I feel like I want to talk about. So really guys, read the contract! If you go into a network signing a contract you never read then don't be expecting to have everything in order with no surprises. Generally, networks have auto-renewal contracts after they run out, for some reason this is a shock to people, but thinking about it, how long would that take to get every single partner to resign and confirm every year? Not very efficient...also if you read the contract it will say....plus with the threshold and cut, if you don't like it don't sign! It makes me wonder if these people will sign anything just because it's a network, for all they know they could be signing away their first born child. I don't know how it works in every network but somewhere the information about the contract is there to read

I sound a bit angry here...but I'm just more enthusiastic about getting this through :p This doesn't happen so much now here, but I do see it a lot on the maker gen forum (not the yttalk maker gen, the maker max one) and other forums, so really I wanted to talk about this whole thing people are doing. What are your thoughts on this?

Network should always notify young youtubers like "Read the contract so you won't regret it later".

There's alot in it on ethics also..

Maker more than others for sure go for the "lets link as many channels as possible with a high payout threshold" scheme.
Because there really is no excuse what so ever to have a threshold of over a few dollars for Paypal unless that is what you're doing (pending payout money = liability but spendable just like a Bank's business model)

There's also really no excuse for such a big company to be so lacking in technology compared to their competitors (Fullscreen, Viso, Freedom) especially when they take such a large (and un-reasonable imo) % of their partners revenue.

and sure you can say it's the partner's fault for not looking at the contract but come on, the contract is web-based and is just called "the agreement" it is not hard in the slightest to mistake it for some T&Cs that every website/ game/ service have which usually don't affect to much about how you use that website/ game/ service.
I wonder why they moved from sending out their contracts via echosign and embedding it, I bet the above and the number of signups increased by it is the main reason.

and I'm not against the web-embed method, alot of networks use it including my own and it does make things an awful lot easier but I feel they have more of an excuse to use it because they have something behind, it's not illogical to expect partners to complain when their network is taking close to half their revenue to display their analytics in a prettier format + maybe 1 new dashboard tool per year.

and this doesn't just apply to Maker either.

I think It is better first someone come and explain what is exactly network? And what they will bring to the YouTuber (any benefit?) :p
I know my question is weird, but I think many new YouTube channel (same as me) know nothings about the network.

As explained from here: https://www.youtube.com/yt/creators/mcns.html

Multi-Channel Networks (MCNs) are entities that affiliate with multiple YouTube channels, often to offer assistance in areas such as product, programming, funding, cross-promotion, partner management, digital rights management, monetization/sales, and/or audience development.

These companies are not affiliated with or endorsed by YouTube or Google.

As explained from here:
Thanks for information. :p
But are they really helpful? I mean, yeah reading some notes about the network and partnership is always nice, because text are mostly in a positive way to attract people to join them, but in reality are they really helping YouTube channels?

Reads contract it says I get a10/90 cut but the network will post my hannel to a million subs three weeks later guys my network sucks I didn't gain one sub and I only make 10/90 cpm
