REACT WORLD?

Ah, but that's the problem. They are claiming ownership of everything that remotely passes as a 'reaction video'. They're obviously not stating it, but their past actions, their past video claims and their registered trademarks all confirm what they are trying to do. There are loads of reaction videos that have been taken down by Fine Bros based on nothing more than 'it was a similar concept that was obviously stolen from us'. And if these trademarks go through uncontested, they will have all the legal backing to do this on a wide scale without having to worry about court cases.

This right here. People are already receiving copyright take downs from FULLSCREEN (the MCN that handles Fine bros).
I have never actually watched a video of thiers (or any real reaction video). But the idea seems boring. However they make a lot of money from it and are greedy and arrogant enough to want a piece of everyone else's cut.

They can copyright their art work and even parts of their format, but copy writing someone reacting to something (which is essentially a review) is just ridiculous.

Claiming that they are the only ones allowed to have "react" in a video title is just ridiculous.

Oh my god. They screwed up big-time with that first video. They are losing subscribers fast. The last update video got more than 200k dislikes!!

And they are only doing an ok-ish job at explaining (or re-explaining) what they actually want to achieve. Still sounds a lot like bs to me though.

I think their delivery of this has been pretty poor, especially on the back of Sony's attempt to trademark "Lets Play", they could of done this a lot better. The last time I checked this morning they were down at least 100k subs, and if you think about it that is likely actually 100k actively unsubscribing.

i really don't undestand why everyone wants to make react videos now. Only for really funny people that could be an option but i tihnk thats overall stupid

They have done the former and not the latter, selling their art work/format in exchange for a cut of the revenue. This may or may not be worthwhile for some individuals to sign up to, I'm not going to speculate as it seems unproductive to try (it's an untested concept and the atmosphere is currently hostile to its success, who knows how it will pan out).

They have not done that. They've trademarked the word "React" as an identifiable expression for one of their brands. One of their channels is called React, and indeed in the context of reaction videos if someone said the word "React" to me, I'd recognise that they may be talking of their specific content instead of more generally. If you google "react", they are the second result (below a javascript library, above the dictionary definition), duckduckgo puts them first; it seems reasonable to say that they have established "React" as identifying some of their content.

Now that they have the trademarked "React", they could use it to start taking down anything with "react" in the title, which would be a gross abuse of their power and not something that would hold up against any sort of scrutiny. They haven't done so AFAIK (doing so would be outright suicide); if they do however, THEN is when people would be justified in getting all worked up.

It seems like an easy thing to do (along with game commentary and the like), but not many can do it in an interesting way.

The funny thing about this is how many react videos people have made due to it. Oh the irony
