Re-Branding Your Channel?

Hey Guys, I have had my YouTube channel since March and I love making weekly videos. As I have only had my channel a few months I thought I would ask some advice from perhaps some more experienced youtubers who have been doing it longer than I have.

When do you think it's appropriate to re-bran your channel? For example how often should I update my channel art (banner)? Thumbnail styles? etc.

I understand it's important to have an established and unique theme associated with your channel so that everyone can recognize and associate that theme or style with you.

However I feel every so often it is important to stay fresh and re-brand once in a while.
 
I'm not more experienced but I did take the opportunity to update and rebrand my channel
Before I did Vlogs which I would just upload because
But since I had to stop making videos for a few weeks I've been working alor on a complete revamp and doing more than just Vlogs
Also improved quality in everything

I'd say if you think you want to update your channel then you should do it
And if you want to completely rebrand then go for it
If your not happy with it change it so you are

If you wanna keep your style you could always do things differently but with new colors/pictures ect..
Let's say ur art/banner has a very unique font and style
You can always mess around with the same font and style with changing some things and even adding others

I wouldnt consider it a rebrand, what you are doing is updating your graphics. I would do this only when you feel necessary if the old graphics are appearing outdated or you have something better to put up there but all in all you dont want to be changing your how your brand appears too much.

For example, if I was to update YTtalks graphics I could have the logo redone as a solid colour vector and change the slogan up a little and update all our other graphics which use our logo, what I wouldnt do is stray away from the colour usage which becomes a part of your brand and the video icon.

I would make sure whatever you do you use similar colours and keep with the theme of your current branding. I made a big branding mistake with YTtalkTV once and used black throughout the channel and dark colours which didnt seem like YTtalk at all, now I am back to lighter colours and making sure that never happens again :D
 
I guess we change art when we get the whim to do it.. We have no set time or day but I think I need to redo our graphics soon.
 
I agree with Michael it's not rebranding just updating, rebranding would be if you changed your name/company name, changed the original logo etc... I honestly wouldn't know when it's appropriate to update banners and stuff, but this is because I've seen bigger YouTubers use the same avatars and banners for the duration I've been subbed to them, some of which has been years. If I was any good at graphic design I'd updated mine every year or so. Edit: actually I'd update mine right now if I could xD
