Questions from a newbie

Hi everyone! I'm still very new to youtube and I'd like some advice. I used to have an agar channel that got about 300 subs but I gave up and just recently I transformed it into a full on gaming channel. As of now I only have two cheap laptops that I've been using for everything so the games I use are limited. The main thing is that I don't know if my content is good or not. I don't know if I'm doing anything right and I'm not getting many comment responses. How do I know if what I'm saying or doing is funny? Also what is the average growth of a channel? I want to make sure mine is growing at a good rate at the beginning. Also I was thinking about buying some youtube ad time (about $10-$20 worth) once my channel gets a little bigger and I don't know if it's worth it or not. Have any of you bought youtube AD space and experienced growth? Thanks so much and sorry if I'm asking dumb questions.

The growth of a gaming channel I have noticed is pretty random.

I've seen channels go from 200 subs to 5000 in the span of a month.

MY usual growth is about 2-3 subs a day with AT MAX I have ever gotten was 30.
My as of right now subscriber count is 535 and I have been doing YouTube since september so I don't know maybe go for that?

Although no idea if that's high or not.

For your videos, it's your humor, if you think it's funny it's funny not everyone is going to like you.

I bought about 2 dollars of ads and it was not that much worth it honestly.

I say stick to making videos and gradually if your content is good people will come.

Don't worry so much about what others think. A lot of what YouTube is about is finding your comfort zone, being who you are, being confident, and being YOU. Never, ever center your content around what other people want. Sure, you can take requests and allow your viewers' likes and dislikes to shape what you put out. But channels are most often loved for the personalities of the people behind them - so let your personality shine through! You don't have to be someone you aren't, or make videos that you don't want to make.

Gaining subscribers and viewers is always hardest in the beginning. As you go on, people will start finding you, and if you are truly passionate and people can tell that you love what you're doing, people will just keep coming.
