Question about Popular YouTubers Collaborating w/ Each Other

if you guys look at tyleroakley's page he has collaborations with almost everyone same with sam pepper so what im wondering is do all these guys belong to the same network?

im pretty sure sam and tyler are not on the same network so what are they doing collaborating in each others videos?

do networks arrange for their talent to collab with other networks? or is it just one big clique based on personal relationships beyond the control of networks?

any insight would be appreciated
 
I don't know if they're in the same network. They might just be with each other because they're both popular and they'd like to cross promote.
 
aside from speculation does anyone have any inside knowledge on what networks these guys belong to?

specifically people like tyler oakley, joey graceffa, sam pepper etc.

I've never met Tyler Oakley, but Sam is a friend, so I can at least shed some light on how he works. Virtually none of the collaborations are set up by networks. The only time he'll ever use a network is if he can't find contact information on his own. The way he operates is the same way virtually every single large million plus sub youtuber operates-when he travels from city to city, he works on a large wish list of people he wants to collaborate with. Setting up collaborations with those people is a lot of work-it's easily over half of the work load of maintaining when you have a million sub channel and he's one of the very best at making those collabs happen.

In terms of collaborations, I have to say that getting your network to try to force a collaboration is a douchebag move. If you're a larger youtuber, it's a small world, so chances are you already have friends in common-and you can easily reach out to any channel you want to reach by networking with friends. Getting a call/email from a channel personally looks way better than one that comes from a network-especially from a smaller channel. This is the general rule-if you're the same size or smaller, you need to arrange the collaboration on your own. If you have a much larger channel, you can get away with using a network to set up a collab with a smaller channel, but it still looks much better if you take the time to email them personally. I always get a response when I ask a channel 10x smaller than me for a collab, so there's never a need to go through my network.
 
You don't have to be in the same network to collab :P

Basically- Oh you're a big youtuber, ME TOO! Let's make a video so people will check us both out, and we can have fun!
 
Networks have nothing to do with collaborations. People collaborate because it's a great way to grow your audience, and collabs are fun.

I personally love what Tyler Oakley is doing this month. Everyday in August he is collabing with people. I love watching collab videos, especially when I watch both YouTubers.
