Quantity vs Quality. Which do you think YT cares about?

The thread does not belong to me, but what I say does. I hope you can at least agree on that. I was asking them not to miscuntrue what I said. They can talk about what ever they want, as long as they leave me out of it or quote me right.

Well, the two are quite intertwined. Yes, Youtubes algorithm pickes out channels that produce frequent content (quantity), but their course is dictated by viewers (who judge quality). If Youtube suggests a video, but it either isn't clicked enough or the watch time is really short, the video will drop out of the algorithm. These clicks and viewtime are provided by the viewers, so that is why so many people are talking about viewership. Viewers dominate Youtubes course.

I agree, but my OP was sricktly about youtube policy. That is what I am talking about. Yes, everything is ultimately connected. It called "The Butterfly Effect". But that is not what I am discussing. I am exclusively talking about YouTube's policy of rewaring channels with more exposure that post daily content.

The problem here is that I was talying about what Youtube is doing and you guys are talking about viewership which a whole different subject. Just to make it clear. The original post is about youtube policy, not viewer interaction. Please understand that and try not to misconstrue it as something else.

Oh I know, however I was going off his point about viewership.

YouTube favors those who are already established on the platform, this has has been true for quite some time. There is very little effort on their part to assist or aid new content creators but I can't blame them. Small channels don't generate enough attention to warrant any recognition from YouTube. Small channels do not make YT any money.

I don't think either is true in regards to YT. Your upload rate, or quality. Hence why I brought up audience. Because to get to a point where YouTube begins to take upload rate/content into account you need to first have enough of a following to where they care.

I get that, but you also named this thread 'quantity vs quality'. In your first post you conclude that because Youtube preferes frequent (even more so daily) uploads, they thus care more about quality. This isn't true, but can only be disputed by bringing in the viewers. The viewers demand quality and, as I said above, the viewers dictate Youtubes course. So we have to bring viewership into the discussion to make a point for Youtube wanting quality. I hope you can follow my line of thought.

You can talk about what you want but don't try and control what other people are discussing, which is exactly what you're trying to do. This thread is not "exclusively" or even "strictly" about what you decide.

Your OP was 4 pages ago. The thread has now evolved into dicussing the importance of quality for the viewers and no doubt it will evolve further as the conversation takes its natural course, not a course imposed by you (or anyone for that matter.) You seem to have a lot of trouble with this concept, not only in this thread, but all over the forum. Please consider this your final warning here.

That is very kind of you to say. I'm only 24, but I try to be rational and polite when I find myself in a discussion, though I do fail at this occasionally. Forums are a place for all ages and all levels of maturity, so sadly you will run into people you don't cross very well with. I usually try to avoid their threads and you will find that in turn they will probably avoid yours as well, since the feeling is often mutual. I hope that, even though you might not like to engage in topics anymore, YTTalk can still provide you with information and guidance through its tutorials!

This isn't my place to comment but I feel like I should.

I have been on various forums and ran a few small ones of my own and what Crown had to say was entirely correct. I do not think Crown's intent was to offend you at all. I have been here for a while now, even back when Michael was the old owner, and even he handled things the exact same way. When it comes to open discussions like this, if you don't nip them in the bud when they start to heat up they will boil over.

I have a few examples but one that I remember clearly is when a user on a forum I was on, similar to this one, was in a conversation. Now his topic got a tad misconstrued, but not entirely different from the main point. Naturally the OP was a bit mad because the discussion went off on a tangent. Staff had to step in and remind him that it is an OPEN discussion and people can take it off from the main point.

Crown wasn't intending to offend you, I believe. Crown was trying to keep the flow of the thread going without it turning into a mess. I have personally seen messes. It causes unnecessary drama. It wasn't a threat, Crown is the admin of the site and was merely trying to prevent anything from blowing up. Forum threads if unmoderated can turn into drama fest.

I hope you decide to stick around, this is actually one of the better communities I have been on and I can tell you that it has much to offer.

It may be there, but I just put it there as a recommended video for people to watch. I played the game a few years before so I did it because of nostalgia.

Do not leave this place! I was glad to read you posts that reflect my own ideas on what is going on with YT. You can find many people here who will share your point of view.
