Putting your channel name in the tags

I've seen larger youtubers even put other channel names in their tags. One of the biggest people that I see do it most often is Caddicarus, he puts a lot of other video game channels in his tags so that people will find him way easier.

It works, but not sure how accepted that practice is.
It's not accepted at all as it is considered tag spam, gaming the algorithm with irrelevant keywords and pigging back off of other YouTubers in the same vein that reply girls used to do so. Furthermore I'm sure those other channels wouldn't like hearing about how someone else is using their name in the way this YouTuber is. When I get the time to do it I'll look over these tags and report what needs to be reported.

I was advised by a channel consultant at YouTube Space NYC to not do this since it's redundant. Your channel name is already a part of your video information and repeating it in the tags can cause it to be seen as repeating information and actually harm your video's placement.

I always put my channel name as the last tag just to inform the YT algorithm that it belongs with my other videos. I think that it actually helps to show Your other videos as recommended on the right and in the player (after video ends).

I don't do it either, but reading the replies has got me thinking that I should...it doesn't harm in any way so I don't see why not

Thanks for the info!

That's really wierd, because most of the big youtubers have thier channel name in tags (for example PewDiePie, Markiplier, KSI).

It's been said like crazy, but yeah, look at any of my videos. They all have WeiseGamer, Weise, Gamer, Wise Gamer, etc in the tags just to boost suggested videos to my videos. It works well.
