Putting your channel name in the tags

Is it necessary to put your channel name in the tags of your videos?
I never do it.

Because if no one knows about my channel, why would they even search for my channel name to begin with?

I do it, because I think I heard that when you put similar tags in more videos, the other videos will show up more in suggested videos right next to the video you are watching. So if you put in your channel name in the tags, other videos from you should appear more often in the suggested videos.

I've seen larger youtubers even put other channel names in their tags. One of the biggest people that I see do it most often is Caddicarus, he puts a lot of other video game channels in his tags so that people will find him way easier.

It works, but not sure how accepted that practice is.

Putting other channels is considered to be tag Spam if there is not a strong relationship in the video.

I always put my name in my tags. Yeah, you should only put another channel's name in your tags if it's relevant to your video. A collab or if your video features work you did for their channel.
