They didn't promise on a date though, if you purchased a PS4 expecting to be able to record without HDCP that's your own fault. I'm waiting for them to remove HDCP before I consider buying 1 again. I wouldn't consider it a lie until after a year has passed. But Sony know they will p**s off a lot of content creators if they don't disable HDCP.
Actually they stated in a post that users should expect it in January 2014. Also, I bought the splitter before the ps4 , so I have always been able to bypass it. They also said in the first quarter of 2014, we would be able to use third party Bluetooth headphones, which they only allow ps4 kinds at the moment. I should have never left xbox, getting one soon.

I'm waiting for them to announce it properly via update notes, like any content creator should. I am contemplating getting an XOne since I'm missing out on some current gen games, but I usually prefer Sony as primary and anything else as secondary, I'll probably come to a final decision when if I can get a job. First paycheck will most likely go towards an XOne if Sony haven't removed HDCP by then.
