Ps4 Audio through HDMI and Headphones?

Hello, So basically my problem is I want to be able to listen to my ps4 gameplay through my headphones and record the gameplay through the elgato!

At the moment if im recording with Elgato then I plug the headphones into my controller, the elgato wont pick up the audio.

Ive heard I can use a headset that runs through the opstical port and it will run simultaneously with the HDMI port! Does anyone have any idea on how to do this? Its been bugging me for a while.

Hope you can understand the way I explained this!
 
You can always connect your headphones to the tv when you're recording :3 That's what I do so that ways el gato picks up the audio and you can listen to your game.

I don't use the above method but that's because I'm using the PX22 and I plug that directly into the TV since the TV has both 3.5mm and powered USB ports. This obviously doesn't work if you want to play MP with voice chat, you might need the above method. Headsets that run through optical can be expensive unless you can find an adapter but the above link covers alternatives. You can also contact Elgato they're usually helpful with that kind of thing.

EDIT: To clarify if you want to record MP with gameplay, chat and your commentary you'll need the method listed in the link unless you go the optical route.
