Promoting Vids using AdWords?

just Moto

I Love YTtalk
How do people go promoting videos using adwords and is it effective?

I've never tried it before but would like to give it a shot if it's worth it.

I think a lot of big youtubers do that at some point, heck even markiplier did on facebook for that cat video he did recently.
The only issue is that you are not guaranteed subscribers, Pay Per Click is how it goes but with the free trial of youtube red and people continue to use adblock, I would try facebook ad, some other promotional social web or just wait for a better time in youtube If you really wanna give it a try!

We use reddit, 9Gag TV, twitter and we have a facebook page. Helps with getting loads of views but doesn't bring in many new subscribers. We tried AdSense with our first few videos and it worked. We got a few hundred views. Our content was pretty crap back then. I think with really good content it can be quite effective as more people are likely to share and subscribe

Do you know of any good tutorial videos for running an adwords campaign? Reddit gives a real bad audience retention on some videos compared to other areas I've used to promote. I think if I can target the right audience through adwords it will increase audience retention of the video in question and therefore keep advertising bids on the video high

I'm not allowed to post links to here but I'll inbox you

I wrote the below in a similar thread yesterday...

It all depends on what you're looking for and how much you're willing to spend.

You set a max on how much you want to spend in a day, bid on how much you want to pay for each view, set different categories/ demographics of who should be shown your video, and it does the rest for you.

You can bid as high or low as you want, but, when YouTube has a space to play an ad, they always go with the highest. This means that if you bid $.01 per view, it may not be shown often enough. Luckily, you have plenty of control and can change the settings at any time.

Down side is that even at the cheapest, $.01 per view, it's still $10 for only a thousand views...so it can get very expensive quickly if you want big numbers.

You only get charged if they watch 30 seconds (or more) of your video. If they hit 'skip' earlier, you will not be billed.

Cool and thankyou! I am happy to experiment with it. Wouldn't the views recover the cost of the cheaper set adds anyway if the videos are monetised?
