Hey man - I new to this to0. Been on YouTube for just under a month. I think you've got to use your Facebook at least at first. Yeah, I know it's a little spammy to hit up your friends and family but they're going to subscribe and at least parents ect will share your videos. I also kinda looked at it like this - if my family and friends won't watch what I'm doing and I'm not ok putting what I'm doing in front of them how do I really expect total strangers to subscribe? I guess it's a personal call for everyone but I felt like it was totally something I was ok with. When I launched I probably got my first 20 or so subscribers from posting to Facebook and then having my girlfriend post to her Facebook etc.

To me it seems like the best way to get the ball rolling. Anyway, after Facebook I think participating in forums like this will help. You'll make friends and gain some subs/collab opportunities on here.

I clicked on your link but don't see any videos so it's a little hard for me to give specific advice because I don't know what your channel is about. One other thing I did is I reached out to some people I knew who were bloggers that blogged about mom and kid stuff (I have a kids channel). And they were kind enough to blog about my channel. That got me quite a few subscribers.

Then I think just interacting with other people on YouTube. Posting replies to people's comments ect.

Anyway - good luck with your channel. Hope that helps!

Matt

Thanks for the advice! I'm uploading my first video this week! :D

Getting started on youtube is really hard, to get started just make your first new video. Take that video at share it wherever you can. Or you can just wait for people to look at it, but I warn you that will take a long time. Just go around a collab with other youtubers your size now if you are a vloging channel that can be hard because you kind of have to be with them for it

Starting out is hard. You should use any networking sites you have, anywhere there is people. Share your channel and video around, it will create some interest for your channel. You don't have to post it on Facebook, I only did when I had about 50 subscribers already and only for 24 hours. I might put the link up again at some point but its a personal choice of if you want your 'friends' to see it or let them find it on their own. :)

Bear in mind that YMMV but for a Let's Play channel like we run gaining a foothold on YouTube is a very slow process. It takes time and as most people say if you put out quality content people will find it. Personally most of my channel growth has come from me putting our name out there and trying to get people to go watch one video. I share on Facebook and Twitter every single time we upload a video and every now and then we get some people to click on a FB or Twitter link to one of our videos. So as others have said post your first video and work on making good content. Be patient and if your stuff is good it will get noticed but at some point you will probably have to promote yourself. Again YMMV but that is my $0.02.

Create social media specifically for your channel. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr, Reddit, etc. Find communities where potential subscribers would be. Make sure not to be spammy, use the site as it's intended while sharing your content.

if you can do paid advertising on youtube it would be good! not to much just enouhg on few videos! don't use facebook paid advertising you will get a bunch of spanish users liking your page like some kind of bot!
