Program for making simple thumbnails

I use Gimp to make all of my thumbnails. It's free also.

Can anyone suggest a good free one for Mac, I take a screenshot but would like to add some text to each screenshot.... I have used the basic photo package that comes with my macbook but does not have the desired effect. Thanks for help.

Gimp, photoshop but free

I wish I knew how to use Gimp.....or Photoshop for that matter.
