Um...... AVGN? He kinda sorta occassionaly swears? Pretty sure he's still monetized.
Jenna Marbles swears a whole lot
Let me start by saying; I curse. A lot. This ends up in my videos because I don't feel the need to censor myself whatsoever, so I just speak like I normally do.
I didn't care at all about the Age Restriction thing, because I don't care if little kids can't watch my videos. In fact, they definitely shouldn't. I like saying **** a lot.
But I found out recently that the age restriction means you can't monetize your videos. This makes me a little paranoid, but my channel isn't big enough to make money anyway, and too small for anyone to notice/report my choice of words...
But today, I read a thread on Reddit about someone who was getting 25k views a day, and when one of his videos, which he described as 'slight adult humor' with no profanity, got age restricted. He got removed from the Suggested videos and now gets 4k views a day. It's terrifying that a single age restricted video can completely wreck your channel like that. Granted, I didn't watch the video, maybe it is that offensive, but still, this cranked my paranoia into serious overdrive.
Aren't there big Youtubers that curse? Do they just take action if someone is offended/reports the video? Do I have to start censoring my videos? (I really, REALLY don't want to censor anything, I want to be myself)
Anyone have any experience with the age restriction policy? The support page describes it as 'excessive profanity' but that's very nebulous and could mean anything (like more than one '****', like PG-13 ratings). There's no clear guideline on how much is 'too much'...
I always thought it was down to the channel deciding this? I watch a certain channel and all his videos seem to have it on them (and he doesn't monetise, either).
I wouldn't and won't change who I was and how I behaved - if it became policy to stand in line, I'd leave! No great loss.![]()
