Procrastinating About Making Videos?

I often procrastinate however, I have a schedule that I rarely break (only when I'm really ill) so I know full well I have to film something or I'll feel awful because its my own fault. Maybe you need a schedule :)
To be honest, my niche that my channel is in dosen't really need a weekly schedule. All I try to do is separate both kinds of videos my channel covers. Does that even make sense?

I sometimes deal with procrastinating on stuff, but recently I started using an app to help me with doing everything I need to do within a week. It's a thing called 'todoist' and you basically schedule your tasks and then check them off as you do them. It gives you karma when you do something and takes it away when you are overdue. It's pretty neat! I've been using it for about a week now.
That is something I definitely have to try that! BTW hows it working for you?

Procrastination is a killer. My advice is write down 5 goals you want to achieve in the next 90 days. Make sure they are measurable goals. "Get stronger and faster" is not measurable, but "Be able to do 30 pushups and able to run a mile in 8 minutes" is measurable. Then write down for each goal 3 reasons why you want to achieve them. Next write down 3-5 actions you will take to achieve them. When you wake up, write a to-do list for the day. Drink some coffee, or snort some blow, whatever it takes, and start getting things crossed off that list. Do this everyday and you'll crush your goals.

Your focus is key. Once you decide to focus on what you want, the rest is easy.

Google "non-zero days" and live by it.
90 Days: 90 subscribers & 100,000 Video Views. That I think is a very reasonable goal! Hopefully with my subscribers' support,(starts being emotional) I believe I can fly! I believe I can touch the Sky!

It's just a matter of developing the discipline to keep at it. Also make sure that this is really what you want to do. Other than that, baby steps.
Of course I want to do it! I guess baby steps it is...

This is what I would do if I were you:

1) Come up with a schedule that's realistic and stick to it

2) Write yourself a letter when you feel motivated about your channel. Pour all your feelings into it, maybe talk about about why you started doing this in the first place, your plans for the channel and what you would like to accomplish. Dream as big as you need, the sky is the limit. Then have it on hand whenever you feel the 'procrastination' monster slowly creeping. It'll put things into perspective and remind you of all the reasons why you're doing this. It's an instant motivator, trust me.
I'll try to sort out my uploads. The letter idea is also pretty good! I think I'll get my motivation quickly back with that.

I think most Youtubers go through this as well. When I go through that I force myself to make a video and literally end up making how many after that lol. I would say to constantly make videos to keep yourself in the mode.
Thanks! I guess when I've finished one set, I'll go onto the next one!

I have a set schedule, but it includes a procrastination day: Record on Wednesday, if I don't record on Wednesday because I wasn't motivated enough then record on Friday, edit over the weekend. Not recording today--not in the mood. Will definitely do it on Friday as there is no way I'll get a video up on time if I don't.

Just work on a schedule and once you do it enough it should become routine. Other than that it really helps to have videos planned out in advance, or to even film videos in advance so that when you feel like procrastinating you still have something to upload.

Not every single video you put up has to have to best content ever, sometimes its nice just to let people know you're alive:P

Everyone has the potential to procrastinate, but everyone also has something that motivates them. For me I am much more likely to meet a goal if I've involved other people. I don't want to let anyone else down. So, tell someone you respect what your goals are, then work to meet them. Most people prefer to "fail in private". So don't make it easy on yourself to fail--do whatever it takes to make it hard to fail!

I think schedules make e panic and rush things so i stay away from them,
Instead when i feel creative i plan and draw out video ideas then the next chance i get i record them :)

You procrastinate because you think of it as a job. Don't call it a Career... it isn't. It can become one, but going in thinking that YouTube is the last thing you'll be doing is pretty much a non starter unless you get really... REALLY lucky.

Stop thinking about that, start thinking about making videos you like and go from there. And make videos when you want to make videos. Right now I am uploading about once a week. Sometimes I got more, and sometimes I go a little longer without a new video. I got a life next to YouTube, a job and bills. I can't afford to spend every living moment to do YouTube, no matter how much I would want to.

Setting a hard deadline and schedule works for me. Once you get momentum it gets easier. Then it will be like "well I haven't missed a video on Friday in 10 weeks! I have to make one!"

If you've had 5 channels but keep procrastinating then perhaps those were all the wrong channels. Once you find something you enjoy, you won't have trouble coming up with content, and won't spend time procrastinating other than doing it.

Find your passion, then the rest falls into place.
