Problems with starting a Variety Channel?

Hey, so I'm thinking of starting a channel with multiple forms of content ("Smosh-esque" sketches, pranks, music, Vlogs, Sit-and-talk Vlogs, and other sketches)

I know most Youtubers generally just stick with one style but I'm interested in working around multiple YT Fields yet at the same time, not alienating my audience and potential subscribers. I was thinking maybe the music will only be on the current channel until I build enough of a following to create a music-specific channel.

Also, would a set schedule help though? For example: Release either a Prank or a Sketch on Monday, Vlogs/sit-down-talk Vlogs on Wednesday, Music every other Friday... Would that work better?

I've a variety channel and had no issues starting off. Everyone will know that you're a variety channel that because you started off that way and not starting to change half way through your channel life.

Hi there...I see you made two of these threads..I deleted the other one since we don't allow double posts :)

Personally I don't like the idea of verity channels. I like to select a niche and stick to it. In my oppinion it's easier to get the subscriber as they relate more directly with more of your content.

hmmm, maybe leave the music (originals and covers) on a separate channel and leave the vlogs, skits, and pranks on their own Comedy-based channel?

The closest Youtuber I can think of who does this is EdBassmaster (where he occassionaly does more skit-like episodes alongside his prank videos) and Mediocrefilms (who has a separate vlog channel and his main channel is mainly pranks mixed alongside some skits) Would a channel that has vlogs, skits, and pranks be a bit too much? and if so, what are some ways I can make it work?

I want to handle as less channels as possible for now (maybe more once I get to grow the new channel) Thanks :)
