Private reply to comments on YT

Is there any way to send a private reply to a person who has posted a wonderful & long comment on one of my videos and I don't wish my reply to him to be on open view.

Thanks. Pete.

You can go to their "about" page on their channel and then click on "send message" top right.

Thanks for the quick reply. I went to the sender's channel and got the message "This channel doesn't have any content". Look like a dead end there??? Could I reply to sender and ask him to give me a link to send him a private reply?

Thanks for your help. Pete.

He can't he has to set up his channel, he only has a channel to write comments not to receive or send messages it seems.

Yeah, like @DigiBox said, not much you can do if he hasn't set up his/her channel correctly.

Maybe you could ask them to follow you on Twitter and then you can DM them?

If you put /about at the end of the channel url it will bring you to their about page, turns out that the page isn't disabled, it's just hidden.

You can go to their channel and send them a private message or you could go to their about page and look at their social media links. You could also send them an email.

Thanks for the well meant suggestions especially re 'Twitter'. At my great age the suggestion of 'Twitter', (and similar) well that is all a total mystery to me. :bag2:. Have tried your other suggestions Courtney to no avail. I fear I have ground to a halt on this one. Thanks again. Pete.

Have you tried @Stike96 's suggestion (above) ?

Here's an example of what you need to do:

1) Go to their channel homepage and look at the URL address field. It will be example: https://www.youtube.com/channel/XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
(obviously where I have written "XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX" the real address will have some other random characters.)

2)Put your cursor in that address field, right at the end, after the last character and then add the following to it: "/about" (without the quotes) and then press the ENTER key on your keyboard.

So for example: https://www.youtube.com/channel/XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX/about

That should take you to their "about" page. On that "about" page, you should have the option to send them a private message as per my firts post. :)

Thanks again for taking the trouble to explain in great detail what to do. However, I have tried this several times and get to his 'About' page but it appears he hasn't set up his YT account to be able to receive 'private' messages. Nor can he send any.

His 'About' page contains nothing for me click on. No 'Options' etc. Others have explained to me that if he hasn't set up his YT account to be able to receive messages, then there is nothing I can do.

I really do appreciate you trying to help. Cheers. Pete.
