Premiere Pro CS6 Help

I just place my play marker at the point I want to cut, use the slice tool and then copy my footage. Works okay for me, although the steps listed above will be a tiny bit faster, but haven't tried out that method yet.

He's referring to doing a copy of multiple overlaid elements all at the same time. Yes, you could cut each individual part at the same position in the sequence, but that's inefficient. It's not an issue if your video is only 2 or 3 overlaid bits at a time, but some projects can easily get into 10-15 different pieces (titles, video, images, audio, etc.).

Yeah that's what I used to do. But sometimes I have multiple recordings on the timeline and I wanted to reduce the amount of times possible to allow me to find the starting and ending cuts. Only reason I wanted to do this is because if I wanted to slowmo a certain part or do like a instant replay or even make a trailer; I had to cut the parts out. But this new method I like as using the extract option automatically shifts the parts backwards and doesn't leave that massive gap. Meaning I do less readjusting on the timeline now and can concentrate on trimming more efficiently.
