I've seen a variety of gear. The most popular tends to be the GoPro and Sony Camcorders with the balanced optical stabilizer (the one where the lens block floats on a gyro) and pivothead sunglasses. I've also seen the Sony QX100 used as you can mount it remotely and use your phone to activate it.

I've got a GoPro Hero 4 silver and it can be switched from wide to standard capture. It can also be activated remotely, but I think you need a solid wifi signal to do that.

Thanks guys, I aint sure what I should be going for, the Sony camcorders with the built in stabilisation system sounds really good but I like the idea of having a Go Pro thats smaller. That's a great feature @Tarmack and something I would likely use depending on the look I want. What is the difference between silver and black versions of the Hero 4? Looking at it they both seem silver to me

The Black version records higher combined resolution and FPS. 4K resolution, etc.

That makes it more worth the increase in price then, I was thinking they were charging more for a black one instead of a silver one and I was looking at the pictures thinking theyre both silver lol
