PR and promotion advice?

Voice actor and Film-maker here to help :-D
Hey guys,
I'm here to ask for some help.

Recently, a voice over series I am a part of has been nominated for 6 sonar awards (awards for voice over)! Yaaaaay. But the thing is, we are going up against other series with a very large following. I think our series (named Mythos), is up there and deserves the awards it has been nominated for.

So I decided to take charge of the facebook page for the channel and try and promote it as much as possible. I have done many things, but I want to know if there is anymore I can do.

Here is a list of what I'm doing at the moment:

  • Posting every single day on the facebook page to keep the page in front of peoples minds.
  • Using question and survey posts to interact with the audience and keep fan engagement up!
  • Producing more content including behind the scenes photos, blooper reels, interviews and promoting fan art.
  • Cross promoting with other relevant facebook pages and channels in order to try and boost our votes and likes.
  • Promoting on relevant groups on tumblr, facebook and reddit (even though there aren't many).
  • Promoting the sonar awards ever 2 weeks in order to make sure every fan has voted.
  • Promoting on facebook and youtube of every cast member.
  • Using a competition with prizes (signed posters, exclusive content, Skype chats, etc.)
I really can't think of anything else I can do, but I wanted to ask you guys just in case I missed anything :)

Thanks in advance,

Is this "Producing more content including behind the scenes photos, blooper reels, interviews." being shared on the social media sites too as teasers/extras already? You are doing more on this than I currently am for YTtalks social media, I have found the return on Facebook is very low, Twitter not as low as Facebook but still fairly low.

I'm not sharing the behind the scenes photos on other social media sites apart from the facebook and twitter. We are getting about 4 people commenting per post. Not the same people each time. So audience engagement is reasonable. But the growth of the page/ youtube channel isn't seeing much growth over the past week (that's when we started). Only 1 like over the past week. But as for extra bloopers, interview and such is going up on the youtube channel.

Then again, the first cross promotion is coming up, so we may see a spike when that happens.

Everything is being focused on the facebook page and sharing through social media.

What do you do in terms of promotion Michael? You have a fairly large amount of subs and views.

Thats not too bad, I have always felt with Facebook and Twitter that when I put effort into them the return is very small, I think thats why I dont bother as much with either of them any more. I find sites like Instagram and Pinterest to be where a lot of people who are interested in sharing your content are at. Reddit would be a good place too but I dont know how to use it.

For YTtalk's YouTube channel at present I am waiting as I have plans for a new YTtalk channel and need other things to come into place before I go ahead with anything so right now the YTtalkTV channel is dormant.

I would usually promote it here and tag people I know here who might be interested, share it on the YTtalk Facebook page and share the videos on Twitter too. Run of the mill type promotion to be honest. Once the new channel is up and running I will be doing the same. The level you are promoting on social media at is what companies hire Social Media Managers for, I have tried doing that myself with YTtalk but I cannot keep up the steam on my own with having so much else to get done.

oohhh! Is there a job for someone there? Managing social media for yttalk? XD

But Instagram and Pintrrest weren't websites I had thought of. I mainly considered the standard sharing sites that have been around for a while like Facebook, Twitter, tumblr and reddit.

Thank you Michael, this is a real help :)

Maybe someday there will be :D Social media isnt my forte, I mean I can do promotion but I just cant dedicate all my time to it so easily lol

If you have material such as images you can promote on Instagram and Pinterest and you spend some time hashtagging them it could work for you. On Pinterest you can also promote videos :)

No problemo :)

Are you able to use paid traffic to help attract people to your page ? I'm not sure if this will work as it will depend on what your videos are about but it might help.

If it is open voting and you are willing to go black hat then try creating a job on microworkers or clickchores ad pay people a couple of cents to vote for you.
