Possible to remove music from a video but keep voice?

I have a video I need to edit where someone is talking while background music is playing. Is it possible to remove the music without removing the voice using Sony Vegas or Adobe Premiere?

Once the final video is rendered, no.

Even if you only kept the parts with the voice you'd hear the background noise when they talk.

At least there is very little you can do. If you have the exact piece of music you may be able to remove it from the video and keep the voice but I don't know of any existing implementation for this method plus the result will likely sound crappy.
