Possible Corrupt Video Problem (elgato)

Hey all, we use an elgato game capture hd for our videos, it largely works very well. However, we just had our first snafu, and due to life, we can't simply re record right now.

We have a video that was split (automatically for time) and the 2nd video works just fine. But the first video is very strange, it shows the correct file size (about 4 GB) but for length it says 00:00:00 and we cannot rewind, fast forward the video at all. But the clip will still play!! If we try to load it into our video editor the program crashes. Same with Any Video Converter.

Current plan is to capture the PC and just let the video play, but now there are issues with the sound recording. From those tests the video quality looked fine, very worried about sound quality. Will be able to give it another go tomorrow, but it is rather late here right now.

Ultimately, is there a way to get the original file working correctly?

Omg that's a serious issue, try to put voice overs on the recaptured video, rerecord ur voice for video by pausing the video and recording. I guess I helped u :)

Pardon our ignorance but what is vlc? Not sure if it will work since the file crashes anything we try to load it into. Handbrake is also something we are not familiar with but a different encoding could help.

EDIT
We tried handbrake and it seems to have worked. Thank you very much!!
