Please help (microphone)

I believe you'll need a converter for usb to mic input. There isn't a specific usb input for the Canon 70D. I don't know what your budget is, but if you're looking for a nice Canon mic, I've heard that the Rode shotgun mic is pretty good. It's about $230 on Amazon, so it's a bit pricey.

Yea, it connects to laptops/desktops pretty easily. What kind of videos are you using it for? If you just want to record your audio with the yeti and save it to the laptop while you record on the camera, it's not too difficult to match up the audio afterwards.

You'll definitely have enough budget wise, follow the instructions above and you'll be set!

Yeah I do beauty type videos so it's just me talking to the camera

Which mic do you think is best for this?

Id use a Rode mic and do a little editing in Audacity once done, you can mount it easily to the top of your camera it just slots into the cold shoe mount, I use one myself the normal version not the pro. You can sometimes find them second hand on ebay, I got mine two years ago and its working well still.

In all honesty I would say the "Blue Snowball" would be perfect for you. I use it for simple voice overs and it's a really nice mic for only $49 on Amazon. Just plug it into your laptop, open up audacity and record what you need. The cord that I received with it was pretty long too, about 3ft - 3 1/2 ft, so you can move it around anywhere you need to.

Using the Blue Yeti or other USB mic with a DSLR isn't an ideal situation. What you would do is plug the USB in to the computer so that the mic has power and then using a double ended minijack cable, plug into the mic headphone jack and the camera from there. The suggestion that the Snowball is "perfect" for you is also flawed as recording audio separately adds unnecessary complication to what you're doing. If you were recording with a webcam on the computer itself, I could see potential benefit but the way you're describing it, I'd avoid podcasting mics.

The Rode mic on the other hand mounts directly on the DSLR and requires no outside power source.
