PewDiePie --- What makes him so great???

I'd say it's just that he makes his audience feel like they're a part of his crap with the "Bro Army" s**t, even though he never replies to a soul in the comments section - what a nice guy. He's like the principal of the world's largest kindergarten class, with millions of 5 year olds.

He's got 19 mil subs! Which is a lot and has never happened on YouTube before! I agree on the no-replying argument but you don't know if he is able to handle/comprehend all that. I mean he's still one guy doing everything unlike the guys from smosh who have got a whole crew behind them. And STILL PewDie's got the most subscribed channel on YouTube.
I think this just has to feel unreal for him, because gaining 19 Million Subscribers in just 3 years and 2 months is sooo insane!

A lot of people say "He has so many subs there's no way he can reply to them!", though him replying to 20 of those people is still 20 people and not 19 million. Besides, his videos are drastically different from Smosh. He just turns a camera on and plays games, never mind for $25000+ per DAY (I'm taking my low retention earnings and multiplying them by about 6, so he makes wayyyy more than I would for the same views). He's no poor soul if you think of his workload.

I never said that and I agreed on your argument that he could reply to atleast some people. And I also wasn't comparing smosh with him. I just wanted to say that he - like a lot of other people - can't understand why he's got so many subs. This may set him into an "unconscious condition" I don't know.

Considering the workload and effort a lot of other YouTubers would "deserve" it more to be No. 1 subscribed (smosh, nigahiga, etc.)

I'm not defending anyone here I just enjoy watching peoples videos no matter how many subs they have.

He appeals to a wide audience imo. While I don't really like his videos per se, I appreciate the work he puts into it.

People like to watch people who freak out in horror movies, or in this case games. PewDiePie was the first (or at least one of) the first to do it, and or to do it in good quality. He realized thsi was a key to success and kept putting himself through horror games to get more people. PewDiePie's main attraction is freakouts in horror games, and he does it well if not the best in the market. He attracts both gamers and non gamers, even people who don't play video games can understand the concept of a Horror game, its the same as a horror movie except that you have to do the acting.

He knows his audience, and he knows how to appeal to them basically.

He's like Justin Bieber, he makes good music, but has really obsessive fans, that would probably S his D for a shout out on his channel.

Also he's hilarious.
