People with Elgato Game Recorder?

ZombieSegway

Posting Mad!
So let me describe my set up. I am using my Elgato HD Recorder and recording game audio. I am not using the "live commentary" feature, I am recording my voice seperatly with Audacity. I have tried multiple times playing games with friends and getting really funny gameplays. My problem is I end up having to delete them because no matter what I do the game audio vastly overrides their voices.

I have changed the audio settings on the Xbox to play through both tv (so the Elgato can pick up the audio and friends voices obviously) and headset (as i have bought turtle beaches so that I can mute my tv so my computer microphone doesnt pick up background noise of the game and still hear it myself. I have also changed it so that game audio level is 1 and voice is 10. The problem is that the game is SUPER loud and only goes quiet when someone is actually speaking, so if nobodys speaking then the game is far too loud which causes a lot of problems during editing and such. I have seen a lot of xbox recorded gameplays and nobody seems to have this problem and i cant find any help online

I have been suggested to get my friends to go on skype so i can record their voices, which I have thought of however this is not really possible for most of my friends.

Anyone who has an Elgato and knows how to sort this out would be a life saver, thanks for reading and I hope somebody knows how to fix this

I copy and pasted this from what I posted on another forum and it hasnt shown up. how do I delete this thread :L

I had this problem a few times (not with an elgato) but I found that you NEED to be in gamechat NOT partychat.. this should fix it.

And yeah I have been told this and I have been in game chat with them and it has still not solved the problem, im wondering if i need to have the sound through tv only? im not sure

you need to have "chat volume" at 10 and "game volume" at 1... play through both or one or the other shouldn't effect it..
Also if you're using a headset that plugs into the xbox not the headphones port on the TV this will be a reason why... you will need to use a headset that plugs into the TVs headphone port I I think...

I have all of them settings and I use turtle beaches but I record my voice seperatly on my pc anyway s dont think that is a problem. My turtle beaches plug into both my xbox and controller and maybe tv i cant remember :L Il just have to fiddle with things till I get it right :)

yer the headset needs to be getting its sound from the TV and your controller not your xbox.. at least thats what I think is the problem.. otherwise I'm not sure.
