People Who Block Comments

Obviously the best example being PewDiePie, what do you think of people who block comments on YouTube videos?

I think most of them are cowards who can't take criticism. If people are just trolling, then they need to understand that this is the internet and they took that risk by making a channel.

So many people block comments on YouTube, and it's ridiculous that there isn't some rule in regards to censorship on YouTube. For example, maybe you could only block comments if YouTube detects curse words or something. You might say that people could spell them differently to get around them, and this is true. However, if they spell poorly it makes them look like a moron, so their plan to troll will backfire.

Well I hate having my channel polluted with trolls and nasty people, so yes I will block trolls and people who post real nasty comments out of spitefulness... and the same goes for spammers.

I'm not ashamed of saying I use the block button when needed!

Nothing wrong with that. I'm more or less talking about the people who block everyone because they can't take criticism or they get way too pissy with dealing with trolls. Just block the trolls. Leave it at that. Your arrogance shines through if you block all the critics.

Yeah I'm OK with people who try and help... which I have had people do before. I hate self inflated egos. Who doesn't! XD

I know of a couple Tony Stark types on YouTube, where they are arrogant but so likeable at the same time, but even they can usually take advice. Guys like PewDiePie though...I know it's trendy to dislike the guy, but I have good reason to. Most people just don't like him because he has the most subscribers.

At least that good that thy can take some advice.

Imagine not liking some one all because they've a crap tonne of subscribers! That's just lame! I pay no attention to YouTube "celebs", I like to look at things that really interest me and videos that actually help.

Don't know why people focus on their own channels instead of getting all jealous of others.

Those who disable comments are thin skinned and can't handle what the internet has to give them. If I do get douchy comments, I will just quietly remove them and go on with my day.

And the entire "jealous" argument is so lame and overdone it holds no water anymore. X criticizing Y and Z saying X is jealous is full of it and a typical fanboy defensive response.

Probably my least favourite fanboy defence is, "If you don't like it, don't watch it." Sigh...

How can you know if you like or dislike something without watching it first?

I can understand Pewdiepie doing it as his comments were so aids.. Nothing but self promotion and spam but he did set up a website where people who want to comment on the video can still do so! No, I'm not a fanboy, I hardly ever watch his videos but his decision is completely understandable. Other than that I don't really agree with it but hey, it's nice that the option is there I guess?

Nothing wrong with blocking comments at all. In all seriousness, it is incredibily rare that you ever find a youtube comment that is actually of substance. So really there is very little lost.

I have a pretty big blacklist of words that will stop comments being shown before I approve them too, I can take criticism but I don't tolerate just bashing my content and I don't want my viewers to see it either.

PewDiePie did it to stop self-advertising and people trying to leech off of his success, that is really the only reason he did it. Many people don't like how G+ works because people with more subs get higher places in the comments section regardless of their comment because G+ assumes people want to read that persons comment more than the average person.

It's not being thin skinned, it's about having a bit of control and keeping a bit of order in your channel.
