People adding you as contacts?

Now, over the course of a few years, I've received multiple people adding me as a contact.
Of course, I notice it, because people put in the "discussion" tab saying:

THANKS FOR THE INVITE! I SUBBED!
Nice channel you have here. Thanks for the invite, I subscribed, subscribe back?


I've also noticed they do this to quite a lot of RANDOM people (I was added by this gamer, she's pretty cute and almost 1k subs, but I don't even know how I ended up there, I don't do gaming). I think it's a way to earn subs and views... but I think it's against YouTube TOS.
What do you guys think?

Is it a good way to get some traffic to your channel or not?

You should not get subs just cuz you sub to someone else, I see some people that have about 200 subs but only get's 5-10 views on every video.
so I say that't not a smart way to got "bigger" :3

Yea, I have decent amount of views on a few of my videos and the subs I mostly have are people that come across my videos and actually sub or real life friends that view them from time to time.

I find it super pointless and tend to not even pay any attention to people adding me as a contact!

I get a few contact add here and there i just add them and keep it moving lol, But none of them have asked for anything.

But if you get added by that person, you'll get curious and check them out, right? If not, subscribe. Not sure about having an engaged audience... unlikely though through this method.

Personally I never checked out the people who added me lol, but I guess that depends on the person.

Sometimes just random people add me and I accept them, because they went through all that trouble for just adding me. Never hear anything of them after.
