Overcome camera shyness when you're not vlogging in your first language

Hello guys!

So , yeah as the title says I’ll like to film some things of my life or maybe things I want to share with other people. Recently I got my FCE (First Certificate English). Since I’m spanish I don’t have any English friends around my circles so my English practise has ended, and I don’t want to see all the hardwork lost..
So I decided to vlog my life in English, in order to improve my English level or at least my fluency and gain self-trust in my skills (losing embarrassment and all that stuff). The problem is that I’m too shy, and I’m even more shy if I’m not speaking in my first language, so that is kinda scary…

I already told my parents about that idea and even near friends about that, but I don’t get enough courage to do it, since I think I’ll do a ridiculous job and I’ll get dissapointed about my level of English…

I’m a bit worried, I really really want to do that but my embarrassment is bigger than my illusion…
Anyway, thank you for reading.

Just practise speaking in english to the camera, just to gain a bit of confidence. You don't have to upload this. just practise a few times to gain confidence. It takes time to build confidence (i did a video about it on my channel) but the more you do something, the more confident you become. You will make a few mistakes but thats the way you learn and then improve. Honestly, no one will judge you and critic your attempt on this forum, everyone is so friendly. Give it a go my friend

If you want to overcome any of your fears, you have to face them. Just make a video and try your best to at least get people to understand what you're saying and that's it. If you want, write a script or have some notes, memorise it and practice a few times so you get the hang of things. Then, do a real take and upload it. You have nothing to lose. Sitting around thinking about all the negative sides to this isn't going to help you and like you said, all your hard work will be for nothing

I will start soon some new series on my channel but in english. English is not my first language but I like it and I want to develop my vocabulary and why not practice it just like you. So I trust you friend that you will overcome camera shyness ;)

In terms of overcoming camera shyness while vlogging, I'd recommend practicing by vlogging as much as possible. Bring out your camera and do a small entry everyday (it doesn't matter if you don't end up uploading it). As you vlog more frequently, you will become more confident with speaking to the camera. A great tip is pretend through the camera lens is your best friend and be genuinely excited or inspired by what you are presenting. Next, watch other's videos and get inspiration on how they vlog and try out a new style or two and see if it sticks. Finally, rewatch your old vlogs and make notes on what you liked and what could be improved. Then repeat and continue until you're no longer worried about camera shyness but rather the content you are creating :)

Pewdiepie isn't a good example of anything but right place right time.

If you're going to vlog from your computer, my best recommendation is to turn the camera on every time you sit down, whether intending to record or not. It seems silly, but just knowing that you're recording is uncomfortable for many people. As you go about your day, you might have an interesting thought, so look up at the camera, say your piece and then go back to the rest while marking the time so you can find the bit in the video later.

Well, so yeah I did my first practise on the morning and it was not as bad as I expected. But I wanted to make it entertaining and make other people laugh but I was thinking about "what the other people would say about me" so I only did a straight speech about myself, which I didn't like.

For example, one of the things that I'd like to do is when I say "Firstly I’d like to tell you guys, that English is not my first language since I’m Spanish" is ring up a warning alarm that says "WARNING: ENGLISH GRAMMAR DESTRUCTION" or kind of. Later I've decided that when I say "Well, I’ve decided to make this video quite short since it was the first impression and I didn't want to make you run away from me" then stare at the camera with a beautiful (and pedophilian) smile :( But I have some friends that tend to watch Youtube videos and I'm kinda scared about "what they gonna say about me", the only thing that cheers me up is the fact that only few of them know English ;D, but I'm more worried about when I join college and one of these teenagers laugh at you or something. As you know, teenagers can be so mean with you :(((

I've got lot of ideas but most of the people that I know will consider them "weird" just by the fact that one of his/her friends is doing it (because they watch things like that form other people and they laugh their a** off)

Thank you so much for the support anyway! :)
