Outros Not Intros!!!

Yes, 5-8 seconds is the max time for any intro. You should include them in the beginning of a series or a non parody-ish thing.
 
The way I do it is add an animated overlay with my logo over the first ~5 seconds of the video. Seems to work fine, doesn't take too much time and works well as branding :)

I definitely prefer outros over intros just because I not that creative and just want people to see my previous and next video. I don't see any problem with having both. As long as the intro is maximum 7 seconds. A 3-5 second intro can be quite catchy!
 
Thats something we have learned lol...We start out with a few seconds of action and then slam a quick 4 second Intro in your face and leave the "fun" stuff for the Outro!! Check out one of our Daily Vlogs to get what Im talking about lol

Agreed. As much as i love AVGN and Spoony I hate long intros. Mine is like 3 seconds jus so it shows my logo and a soundbyte. That way you remember the logo and soundbyte. No need for a song or ne of that. I always skip avgn and spoonys intros
 
Definitely agreed with this- for bigger, well known channels, an intro might be ok, but even those channels usually put at least 10 seconds of funny/crazy content before the intro.
