Outro more important than intro?

For me,outro. My outros usually have another video to watch or some annotations to check out other people or videos. So my outro is most important to me.
Same here, i don't even have an intro
The big ones do have an intro, whether it be by an actual video intro or more in the likes of them just saying an intro. An example on PewDiePie: "Hey how's it going bros, my name is PewDiePie!" or maybe Boogie with his vlogging series: "What's up, ladies and gentlemen on Youtube. Boogie2988 coming at you live once again once again through the power of the internet". This right here is where the content creator is using their words to introduce themselves, where as others would use an intro made with images, their channel name and then slapped on with some music to help draw the viewer in.

So if you look at why the big ones you mentioned doesn't use an intro where it's like a video, it's because the way of introducing yourself via words over and over and over again, like a salesman. You will slowly remember them more and what the intro for them will be, because they use only their words in a very short amount of time. Where as the video is quicker to draw you in, but has a less way of making you remember it.

I myself do it with words to introduce myself and my slogan in the videos I create. However, to sum it all up....they do have an intro, it's just not being shown in the way you think. :)

Hope this helped ya out a little mate, stay cozy and have a nice day!
Yeh thats what i am kind of trying to do, as saying it in words other than flashy images saves time. Thanks for the reply anyway[DOUBLEPOST=1439204117,1439204086][/DOUBLEPOST]Thanks for all the answers guys

I found saying your name at the start of every video rather boring to do and also a really bland way to start anything, so I stopped doing that almost immediately. Even when a person only takes 3 seconds to do it, if it's the first 3 seconds of the video I'm already tempted to press "back".

I just say " Welcome Gamers, Hazzador here and today..." Im trying to think of a catchphrase or something to say at the start thou

I always thought if I made a gaming channel I'd have a sound or start of a song burst in with an animation and like you said "Hey Hazzador here today" or something.

I think a good intro is more important. My audience retention dips hugely once I begin my outdo of "thanks for watching," etc. A good intro should be short and sweet, in my opinion. It's something I'm still learning to craft!

I had never thought about the audience retention dropping at the end bit, that is something to consider

For my last video i made an intro and outro.
The intro is really short (less than 2sec), it's just a part of the branding. The outro is 10 seconds long with 65% audience retention in the beginning and a huge drop ending at 25%.
So yeah, audience retention is something to consider indeed.

I don't have a intro but i have a good outro in my videos! :)

I think having both is important but it just depends i guess how you want your videos to be.

I really want to have a great intro in my videos but i really don't know how to brand it myself and make it great!

I have gained nearly 2K subscribers on Youtube just by only having a outro in my video, not a intro, not both. :)

Congrats on 2K subs. I also would't mind an intro but don't find it very necessary

The way I was framing this discussion though is what your intro is (including there being no intro at all) is a more important factor than what your outro is.

Having a horrible outro would probably have a minimal effect on your video. Having a terrible intro would have a major effect.
Therefore the intro is always more important, until people start watching videos backward.
