Open Broadcaster Software (OBS)

I've Got It
I have been an avid user of Mirillis Action for gameplay recording for quite a while, but it recently started giving me a lot of audio issues that I absolutely could not get figured out. A friend told me I should try to start recording with the free program OBS. I had tried the program in the past and could never get it figured out, but now that I really needed it I decided to stick with it and make it work. A few tutorials later and now I believe that this free software works even better than my paid one ever did. I highly recommend this program to anyone recording gameplay footage on PC, it has a pretty steep learning curve, but it is well worth the effort you have to put into it.

It's a really good software honestly that I have used before. I prefer bandicam though (the paid version) more because it's essentially fraps with more options and it codes your videos to MP4 so they are small and look fantastic.

I may look into that one at some point, but as long as this one is working well for me, I can't see paying for a new one right now. i didn't know bandicam encoded into .mp4. That is pretty much a must for me in a recording program since I have limited space to work with.

I looked into this program a while ago, it is actually pretty great but from what i know it is mainly for people who want to stream.

It is made mainly for streaming but it has a local recording function as well. It also lets you determine your own recording bitrate which is nice :)
