Why the hell would they force my avatar/icon to be ON my banner. I don't know ANYTHING about graphic design or art, and even I know that's just STUPID. Put it to the right or the left or in the bottom corner or something, you don't put it ON THE FREAKING BANNER. I will eat your babies youtube.

I've seen complaints like yours a few thousand times (mostly on facebook) since the opt in started earlier this month and I have yet to see anyone come up with a clever avatar/banner combo that integrates the avatar into the design of the banner like people sometimes do with facebook profile pics/cover photos. And to those that say it's impossible because of the auto-scaling of the banner area, it's not impossible. It just takes an open mind and lots of red bull.
