'Older' YouTubers?

I do wonder whether my age is a factor too (I'm 49), but at the end of the day its not something I can control, it is what it is, so I largely ignore it.

The other thing, which I think is sadder, is that as people get older they can fall into the trap of saying "I'm too old to start doing that now", which is just putting artificial blocks in the way of you doing what you want to do.

My general philosophy is - You only get one life, if it's something you care about then do it!

I'm a youngen, so I can only comment on my age group, which is to say, I think kids my age tend to gravitate towards content that is made for them, and it does not matter your age, just your niche.

YouTube creators and users largely consist of people in their teens and twenties. Which is great, but I'd love to hear from those of you out there in the 30+ crowd (*cough* like myself *cough*). Do you feel your age effects your traffic or popularity? (in either a positive or negative way.) Do you find that the tone of the comments and feedback you receive to be different?

Hey there! I'm a 30+ youtuber and the only reason I think it is harder for me to keep up with youtube-ing is because I have a fulltime job plus a study and and internship I have to keep up with too. I think when I have some more spare time I can make my channel grow. We can do it too, we have our niches too. We only have to find them and make an effort to make it happen.

I'm over 30 and been doing my thing on YouTube for 4 years. I cook and I share. I think if you make honest, interesting or helpful videos you'll find people who will watch. Funny thing is when I started doing "face" intros before I got to the cooking my viewers got a lot younger. I thought that was interesting development.

I am in the over 30 group. I do cooking / food related videos. When I started cutting down the length of my videos the I started getting more younger viewers.

I'm 30 and I think I have done pretty good and I don't think that it affects who watch me. If you put up things people want to see it doesn't matter how old you are.

I'm a mom blogger, but most of my audience according to YouTube most of my views consist of males ages 34+? I don't know if it is due to the errors YouTube has been having lately or what....

i think it all depends upon the subject content.

This is a good point. Older YouTubers often tackle more mature subject matters, (mine is a coffee-tutorial channel, for example), so the audience I attract is automatically more mature. (Not a lot of 10-year-olds seeking out coffee videos.) So in that sense, I see it as a plus because the comments I receive are generally more constructive and positive.

Over 30. I have one channel that teaches about video. I think that one is fine because, like someone mentioned higher in the thread, it shows experience.

My second channel I started 8 days ago and it's an edu-tainment channel. I think that one will be ok also because I'm sharing researched and proven information.

I think any kind of channel is fine because you're most likely going to relate to those somewhere close to your age bracket anyway and be into similar things (topics) as others close to your age group.
