'Older' YouTubers?

Well, I'm 28. I definitely feel 'old' for being on Youtube, for sure, even though I'm not that old.

The majority of my audience is exactly in my demo, though (25-34) so I'm really glad about that. I couldn't imagine trying to create content that panders to children or teens, and I like to curse a lot so I'm glad my audience is mature enough to not have to censor myself.

On the other hand, I feel like younger viewers are more likely to engage positively on your video such as liking or subscribing, because it's part of what they're used to in terms of consuming content. Older people (the second biggest demo on my channel is 35-44) don't engage the video whatsoever.

I'm a teenager but most of my audience is in their twenties according to my stats, though I don't really have a target audience and just try to make my videos in a way that people from 0 - ∞ can watch them.

I also watch videos from people who are in their 30s or 40s, it's the same thing as watching a TV show where the characters are adults.

Most of my friends don't even watch teen vloggers, they just watch videos like Epic Meal Time, Angry Joe etc

Well as a person in their 20s I don't think it matters what age you are. It depends on the content you pour out and attract what type of audience you aim for. There are plenty of people in their 30 even 40s making Prank videos on the net. ( If you call it pranking more like harassment). Then there are people in their 30s making workout vids, vlogs, women in their 30s doing makeup etc etc. Another point is some people may look at you as a person with experience not necessarily old. The point is in some cases age is nothing but a number.

hey dude im 33 and i dont think its a matter of age its what makes you happy and what content you are creating, theres something out there for everyone. you also have to bare in mind that there are millions of 30+ who watch youtube videos. :)

I'm ancient by YouTube standards (upper 40's) but I just run the channel, I'm not the face of it!

I just turned 70 but I have been in the film bus. Youtube is a great vehicle for filmmakers to bet their work out there. I do a variety of voids, characters, news items like protests, nature stuff and whatever I think people would be interested in.

I'm in my 20's so I don't really apply, but I do have a few thoughts about this topic. ^_^ My suspicion is that older women would have a harder time than older men (as a lady, that makes me sad.. =( )... I think this mainly because there are so many older men still giving the NEWS, but most of the ladies seem to "retire" around the ages of 35-40, even if they don't have any kids.. >.> But I think YouTube is changing up the standards! Some of the older ladies and their crafting skills are so much fun to watch! I could literally watch ladies make pretty flowers out of ribbon and paper all day long..lol! Older people have a lot more experiences than younger people, and they can definitely help so much more with advice and learning than us younger folks.

I always go to my mom and dad for the best advice, not my friends... My friends are positive and nice about everything, but my parents always tell me what the real deal is and how to fix it. ^-^ I like older people with YouTube channels because they help me see life in a more realistic way, and I learn a lot from them. =)

I feature games mostly from my time era and constantly get told "drop dead old man!", "Why is your channel not called gaming with gramps?", "Stop posting about this ancient history you old fossil.", etc. I am beginning to believe if you are not in your twenties or younger you are doomed mostly for success because the majority of the youtube audience are a bunch of kids that have no respect for seniors.
