Ok.... so Nintendo and Youtube....

So we all know how Nintendo acts towards Youtube posting their games. And yet from what I can see, everyone and their mother have been posting Mario Maker videos, even the big-name Youtubers that should know better.... So is Nintendo claiming all of those videos too or turning a blind eye?

Content creators can register the videos directly with Nintendo:
r.ncp.nintendo.net

I would guess that many of those YouTubers are sending the videos to be claimed by Nintendo through their creators program. ^_^

Interesting... this is the first time I actually seen the site. How does registering your Nintendo videos affect you if you're already in a network?

Hmm..I'm not sure about other networks and Nintendo...They mention that "Managed Channels or Premium Partners of YouTube are not eligible and should not register for this program," but I'm not really sure what a "Premium Partner of YouTube" is..?? I would probably ask the network and see what they say. Maybe they have something already negotiated with the Nintendo program. (=

Having had to deal with unresponsive record companies in the music industry, this really is an awesome setup. ^^ I wish all music producers had something like this because most of them ignore email inquiries, especially for YouTube. Most music covers get 0% money back from their YouTube covers (however, they can sell them on iTunes to make money). Perhaps gamers haven't had to deal with copyright pains as much as music producers, and maybe that is why a lot of them do not approve of this new Nintendo creators thingy as much. I think it's a big headache-reliever. ^^

Lol, no trust me we do have to deal with copyright pains A LOT it's just like any other industry, and we even have to deal with the music industry to. The reason why a lot of us don't approve of Nintendo is because their "money hungry" and the long history up to this point because Nintendo and Konami are the two biggest dicks in the industry and they WILL and HAVE striked and shutdown MANY channels because they posted gameplay of their games when most companies see gameplay's and reviews as a good thing for them so when companies started bringing their defenses down in mid 2014 and opened their arms to monetized gameplay, Nintendo still said no this and in early 2015 finally decided to "allow" (if you can even say that) monetized gameplay but you have to be partnered with them and they still want a large split. So yeah people are pretty upset about nintendo's decisions.

The bad thing is, Nintendo can do whatever they want.

I mean, bottom line, we only care about the gameplay videos because of the money. Nothing else. If it wasn't for that people wouldn't be rushing out to upload their videos first opening day, nor would they only playing the big name games that are sure to bring tons of views. I know people that would only buy lotsa-views type games and not games they would actually like to play if it wasn't for the Youtube business.

Basically we want to make money off of other peoples' products (games) and we pitch a fit when Nintendo makes big-name games like the recent Mario Maker and still say no. It's their games, they can do what they want. You buy a game to play it and beat it and have fun with it. Making money off it was never part of the deal.

I'm no different, I also have Let's Play videos on my channel, but I do see where Nintendo is coming from and instead of making a big to-do about it, I just don't care. I'm too busy thinking about SFV and KOF14 to care about whatever Mario is up to.

And again, Nintendo does NOT need our stupid views and whatnot. It's friggin Nintendo. You have to be living under a rock to not know who Mario is. Unlike stuff like Minecraft and FNAF that most likely would be some weird unknown obscure games if Youtube didn't explode with it.... all Nintendo needs is that TV ad they're playing lately with Mario Maker and BAM instant top seller. Mario Maker does not Pewds or whatever to say 'this is awesome' to sell like hot cakes. Even if Pewds is not impressed with another Smash Bros, you can tell the next big Smash bros will also sell out.

That reminds me a lot of what Warner Music and Disney were doing a few years back.. =/ It took them several years, but they eventually realized that YouTube covers can actually help boost their sales, and they seem to have stopped taking down every cover they come across. Maybe Nintendo will realize something similar, too, and become a little more flexible. The Nintendo program shows that they acknowledge that YouTube is worth hiring several staff to upkeep their program. They may realize they make more money if they turn that work back over to YouTube's Content ID with some sort of negotiated YouTube contract.... I'm hopeful that things will get better in the future. ^^
