Note making for Let's Plays help?

Yeah I was refering to live commentary. Post commentary I'm fine with most of the time. I'm just going to stick to going off the top of my head for live commentary in future though, especially for AAA games. Indies I'll probably just use the first ep to discuss the game as it's pointless to drag on information about it throughout each ep unless it's required, e.g. would have to be Planet Explorers, I explained pretty much everything about the game in the first video since I wasn't sure if I'd do a LP or not. I might make notes to use throughout a LP but not sure as recently I've decided that I won't be doing as many LPs until I've finished current projects.

My current strategy though is that before you start a big series or a big anything you gotta have a back catalog. Basically meaning when I see your part one of that LP the LP better be finished on your PC. There's nothing worse to a youtube fan then seeing an LP get cancelled because of whatever reason. That's why I have a huge back catalog i'm working on building up that way when I do my full launch (i have 7 videos up now which are the same quality but still) where I can post 1 video a day and not have to rush to meet some deadline. So build a back catalog first.

I used to do that but it became an issue when I wanted to play other games. So now I'm just going to release a video when I feel it's right to avoid overwhelming myself. I think I've cancelled only 2 LPs so far, 1 was Shelter cause I just wasn't enjoying it enough. 2nd was South Park which crushed me a little because I was enjoying it a lot but had some tech issues and I was a good 9-10 episodes in and had another 5 or so waiting to be edited. My general rule of thumb is: for dual commentary I don't dare release a video until me and whatever friend, have at least finished 50-80% of the game (unless it's a casual MP game like GTAO or GMod for e.g.).This way if anything goes wrong with meet ups then I have a backlog of videos to edit and enough time to plan a meet up ahead of time. I got burnt last time relying on 1 friend who literally went awol on me and a few other friends resulting in me having to almost cancel my Defiance LP after a 2+month break. The video I had made as the last would have been mid way unfinished but I had 1 viewer who said they would like more, so that was enough for me to keep going. For solo LPs I do the video usually a day after I record the first part as I know I'll be fine and I can play when I want. But I digress.

Basically at 1 point I had 4 different series' going and even with thos 4 going I wanted to play other games, at that rate I would have reached a point where it could be a week apart from certain videos i.e. my GTA 4 series, I'm literally editing part 68 right now, and will have up to 100+ videos, 100 videos per week would take 2 years to release, now factor in my GTA 5 series too and you see my issue. So I'm just going to finish what I have and stick to 1 or 2 games at a time from now on lol If I ever do reach a point where I have enough subscribers who request a certain amount of videos then I'll change my ways but for now, I'm going to relax, I don't have enough subs or views to worry or stress about releasing videos on schedules or on time, this way I can spend way more time editing videos. I spent around 20hrs+ editing a GTAO video, it got f**k all views but it was bloody worth it just to be able to say I made it. I'm treating my channel like a proper TV network would treat a channel as well (derailed but who cares?), I won't be cancelling LPs (I'm going to be upfront with viewers from part 1 explaining how performance will effect future videos and so on) but I'll be concentrating on the more successful 1s, again to allow me more time to edit stuff. When I had the 4 series' going at the same time all I could think was "I need this out today, this out tomorrow, I need to edit 10 of these to have ready to release with 10 of those" etc... and the result was barely edited videos, f**k that, I'll take a week to edit a single video if I have to lol

I take notes on questions that I think would be interesting to see different responses for and if I feel like the videos getting a little slow or I'm at a boring part I will ask these questions to make the viewer think and maybe even reply. Just little things like that to try and get viewers to like or comment :)

Yeah, I originally had questions I would ask during my AC4 LP but I ran out of questions and began to forget about it lol I'll probably try it again someday. A viewer I had, same 1 who was watching my Defiance LP and asked for more actually suggested I do similar to TheRadBrad and ask questions and stuff. I noticed he asks random stuff, so during the AC4LP I asked questions specific to the entire franchise, like "what was your favourite AC game? What was your favourite AC comic?" etc... It did spark some discussion between me and that same viewer. But like I said I kept forgetting and ran out of questions like half way through the LP lol[DOUBLEPOST=1396863067,1396863025][/DOUBLEPOST]
I don't understand that.
I just say whatever falls into my mind. :p
As I mentioned in 1 of the earlier posts, relying on my mind too much doesn't yield the best results xD
