Not joining youtube red.

I do not see the option to accept or not joining youtube red as a creator.

I am not sure I will join to be honest .

It seems that they will put will my videos on private.

Will it means I can still share the links with my family?
 
As a creator, you don't get an option to join Red. It's a paid service for viewers to remove ads from all videos on Youtube.

It won't affect your videos at all, but could affect your overall ad revenue. But so far, Google has been very vague about how Red revenue will be paid to creators.
 
Hmmm that is a good point. If a lot of people buy Red, we're gonna end up losing out since we won't be getting ad revenue anymore.... So in a way, they're kinda forcing the big guys to make exclusive red content to they can continue to make money?
 
Isn't the deal behind this that people can sub to this for a month so that they aren't bothered by ads? Doesn't that mean people that make money off the ads will be losing out?

I wouldn't be surprised if Music gets paid. Apple Music tried to do that, Taylor Swift publicly complained, Apple relented.
 
As long as Adblock Plus is around I don't think loads of people will actually join it for the ad-free service. Other than that, I'm not so sure if these 'shows' they are talking about will be a big hit. I doubt it. I wouldn't be too worried about it just yet.

Even without adblock, sitting through a 5 second ad before hitting the skip button is not enough of an inconvenience for most people to pony up any money to avoid. I agree, I don't think this will affect content creators much purely because of the likely extremely small percentage of viewers that will sign up for it.

If you're with a network, the network will make the agreement and you don't have to do anything. If your videos aren't monetized at all it doesn't concern you.

Creators get paid a collective 55% share from Red's income, which is devided based on total time Red subscribers watch your videos.
