Not getting anywhere.

Ok guys an gals it seems I need help on a large level. I have been posting videos on my channel from travel and history through to classic car and road trips and including scale modelling articles. I thought my lack of subscribers (Never been above 15 ever!) and average view counts were because I was addressing niche subjects in the main and I actually have only one really successful (at least in my eyes) video. After three years of posting videos and following all the hints and tips nothing is improving at all. I have discovered that far from my stuff being niche the same subject matter from other You Tubers have been generating 1000's of views in a couple of days. I am very very clearly doing something wrong on a major level. I have rebuilt my channel and added a better intro but it simply is not getting views.

So I am really asking for help and opinions. I would like my channel to grow if possible but I am on the verge of calling it quits and accepting I am too boring to get views. Any help appreciate please?

Well I mean uploading a bit more would help.

Having a few videos here and there won't do you any good.

At least have 20 to 30 vids a year.

There are more videos or were. I am in the process of rebuilding and removed those that have been up for a while and made no more than 10 views so the channel is a little quiet right now. The question it really begs for me is considering the lack of any views for most my videos am I doing something wrong in either tags, or promotion, or is the way I make videos simply not appealing? The videos I could put up in relation to road trips, Classic car work and scale modelling is enough to warrant a video a week but its not going to do me any good if I make a mistake in getting views or am promoting incorrectly? (Or I just simply suck at making videos.. :S ) But advice accepted I will increase the content and see if much happens. Thanks.

I don't see anything majorly wrong, i like your voice, and your intro video is good
i wouldn't delete videos that don't perform as well as you'd like though, keep them up, every little helps!

you just need to work on improving everything slowly as you go, learning new and interesting camera angles, audio, keep updating things as you go. its your hobbies so it shouldn't be a drag to you.

the trouble with this kind of channel is that it covers a lot of different interests at once. people may not want to sub if they are only interested in one of the topics you cover. but don't let that discourage you, you could even split your channel up into more of an organised one.
perhaps each week you have a new video for each topic in order.

eg:
week 1 - road trip video
week 2 - history
week 3 - scale modelling

something like that, then it repeats every month?
then people may subscribe because even if they are only interested in one thing, they can know the schedule that they will get at least 1 video a month on that topic that they like.

Take your videos to places they would have an audience. All the model stuff would liked to be seen by people so go to forums or fan sites that have them.

This is all just my opinion and I don't watch the type of videos you make so I don't know what the more successful channels in your genre are doing.

Your thumbnails could be better. I don't like the vertical lettering because it is hard to read. Even if it was horizontal, the font and sizing would make it difficult to read. I think a lot of the pictures just show too much of a scene so it just becomes sort of nothing in a small thumbnail. Maybe focus on just one building or object with good lighting.

I picked the video Back to the Road. Black Country Ramble to view. I stopped after 2:30 minutes because it was just dash cam footage of you following a van. I don't think anyone has an interest in seeing that. Again, I don't typically watch travel videos but I've seen them on TV. I would have expected some type of map showing where Black Country is and why I would be interested in seeing and knowing more about it. Why are you going there? Try starting the video with a voice over something like "I recently visited Black Country and had a great time. Black Country is home to beautiful X and amazing Y. It is located at Z. Let me share my wonderful day with you." You can show some of the best clips while you do the voice over to capture interest so people want to see more.

Look to some of the more successful channels and honestly compare your work to theirs and see what the differences are.

I will take on board your comments on the thumbnails thanks. Some are difficult to do without careful and often vertical placement of script on the model videos but maybe they need a little more time spent on them. Black Country ramble is just a road video and not much more. These tend to appeal to people outside your own country who want to see a bit of life from elsewhere. The Black Country intro and descriptions for the 'tourist' minded are part of the 'travel' series where you find history and detail on areas I visit. The video Forever Black Country covers this sort of thing so I would have been duplicating things to be honest. But thanks for the opinion. I possibly need to make clear that these road trips are simply dash cam footage with a bit of commentary. Thanks. That does help to place things in better perspective particularly the schedualing for a monthly output rather than weekly. The subs don't so much worry me if I am honest since it can be put down to taste and people will pick and choose what they like. I am a bit more worried about the lack of actual views as if they are not getting exposure in the right places to get anyone finding them. Gaijillionaire mentions taking them to forums who have an interest in the subject matter. Most the views on the scale model subjects I did exactly that on but as we are all ware on a busy day any posting on a high volume site will disappear rapidly without trace so my only alternative is to spam a forum which I kind of dislike. Love the idea of a rotating monthly schedual though. That is most certainly something I can put in place.[DOUBLEPOST=1470411140][/DOUBLEPOST]

Niche subjects are actually really good! If you're one of just a few people covering a topic, you're more likely to get fans of that topic. That's why I typically don't suggest people start a Minecraft gameplay channel- it's popular, sure, but there are millions of people already doing it.

Two suggestions when working with niche topics:
1) Market your material. These topics almost assuredly have online forums. Advertise there, post your videos and such. Once people see stuff in a forum that's both relevant to their interests and the video that you've posted, they're more than likely to start watching it.

2) Don't have a single channel, if you have many topics. You mentioned, among other things, classic cars and scale modeling. Unless there's a ton of overlap between these topics (like, if you're 100% focused on model cars) you may want to consider a channel for each of these topics.

Thanks for your input. The travel series are hard to market as such since they are travel and history combined. The intent there is to show a bit of culture, a place, and the history that makes it interesting or puts it in a context for the viewer. The road videos are simply for the curious as such more than anything else. The Classic cars will be doing everything around my 3 (and a half) vehicles and I market those on car sites for classics and model specific forums. The Scale Modelling has been placed on IPMS, Scale Models sites and the Google+ groups. Short of this I am not sure where else they could be put. What struck me is simerlar videos by others on the same type of subject get 1000's of views in a few days. Mine are lucky to see 40 so I am clearly doing something very wrong.

I have separated the channel into interest specific sections. Having one channel and sub sections, for now, works due to the time I can put into my videos and post. Under one channel I can at least keep some schedual of once a week releases. I am fairly sure if I had 4 channels I would be only posting a little on each once a month. The hope is that having it all in one place might tempt a viewer to see what else I do. But the entire trick right now is to get people to actually view and that is simply not happening.
