Non-Skippable Video Ads

Hello everybody.

I recently joined a Network, and they told me I should enable all types of ads, including Non-skippable video ads, and long non-skippable video ads. I did it and now I'm noticing how my daily subscribers growth is decreasing slowly.

I don't know if this has anything to do with enabling the non-skippable ads, or if it's just normal growth.

The thing is... My videos, with a few exceptions, are 5 minutes long approximately. It is worth it to activate non-skippable ads in this videos and make the viewer watch a 20-30 seconds ad to watch a 4 minutes video? (Or even 2-3 minutes videos).

I understand it is interesting to enable this ads in long videos (20-40 minutes), but I'm not sure if it's worth losing potential subscribers for some extra money with short videos.

What do you recommend?

PS: English is not my first language, I'm sorry if there are any mistakes.

20-30sec ads are okay for 2-3min+ videos. It's the ads that can last longer than the actual video which become a pain. I'd say experiment but then again I don't monetise my vids at all to begin with so I can't help too much there. Something I've seen SeaNanners, who generally only makes 3min videos, is he enables video ads on every second video, unless that's just the way Google is serving me ads but I've noticed that pattern when watching his channel. I should also point out every first video has the banner ads, I've forgotten the technical name but it's the clickable ad that pops up during the video's playback.

Non-skipable ads suck. If I'm ever at a computer without adblock and one of those comes on, I'll usually just close the video..Even though your network recommends you activate all ad types, you don"t have to

This answer is based entirely on my own experience as a viewer, so I may be wrong, but my guess is that non-skippable ads are appropriate only for channels with lots of super-fans. For example, I am a super-fan of Grace Helbig and will suffer through the non-skippable ad. For channels that I like but don't think of myself as a super-fan, I will click off the video if there is a non-skippable ad.

I feel the same way! I can view the ad just to my favourite videos from ERB or JeremyJahns.[DOUBLEPOST=1421954028,1421953810][/DOUBLEPOST]

But then again, you have a decent amount of subs, and decent amount of views! i wouldn´t recommend adding non-skipping ads if you have just a few subs.

I personally do not recommend turning on the non-skippable ad format.

The drop-off rate is much higher in return for not much higher CPM rate in comparison to trueview/ skippable instream adverts.

As a viewer, I'd rather the non skippable ads because they rarely exceed 15 seconds. I'm more likely to hit skip on the longer ones. If you're bailing out of a video because of a 15 sec non skippable, you're really not that interested in the content to begin with.

As a video publisher, they have worked great for me. No sub drop off, and both channels are experiencing excellent growth.

Most non-skippable ads are 30 secs and can go up to 2:30secs, the drop-off rate on these ads is 15-40% compared to ~4-9% for trueview/ skippable.

I guess it depends where you are located, and what ads are being served up.

I've seen a 30 sec non skippable maybe a handful of times, and have never seen one longer than that. 99% for me would be 15 secs.

For me, the ones that were longer than 30sec are skippable! which is nice!
