No more collections in your subscriptions

Furry Gurus

I'm a girl!
So YouTube removed the option to put your subscriptions in a collection because they were working on "more efficient ways to manage your subscriptions". What is the difference from before? To me it just looks like they deleted my collections...

I don't know if they've implemented them yet, but I'm so annoyed, I had them all grouped together for a reason, what's the point in removing it?

Frankly, YouTube doesn't care what you think you want to watch. It's been this way for a while now. They know better than you do, what you are likely to watch and what kind of content is likely to keep you on the site watching for the longest time possible. This is why videos will be filtered out of your sub feed, why the recommended options get added into subfeed and other special places. It's why video responses were tanked, why the SEO keeps changing and essentially every other UI change that YouTube has made.

It's all designed to feed you content that you are more likely to click on and watch. It's scary how much Google knows about people. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if their algorithm includes tracking whether your mouse cursor hovers over a video for a bit before choosing not to click on it. They are that precise in a lot of other areas.

You make it sound like a conspiracy :p

I never used them but its a shame for those who did, @Tarmack I wouldnt be shocked at all either. It is in their best interest to know as much as possible to feed us what they think we want to be fed lol

heh, indeed. Google is the single most dangerous entity in the world. They're great, so long as they remain ethical, but sheer amount of data they have is very dangerous for one group to possess.

I remember a story about Target, where a father called to complain about them sending maternity related advertising addressed to his daughter. Turns out, based on her buying decisions, their computer system had determined that she was pregnant and thus began advertising to her as such. Also turns out, that not only did the father not know, but the daughter didn't know yet either. And all that just from credit card transactions. And that was about a decade ago.

Now, imagine what your entire browsing history and YouTube watch history can be used for.

I remember that Target story, that was actually pretty scary, its why I'm glad I generally don't shop from one place too often, apart from maybe Amazon.

I know, a few days ago i searched my own name in google images to see what was left of me online and I got my own picture and a picture of the 2 colleagues sitting on either side of me :p

It's not a shady conspiracy theory if you're right. :)

I'll take it a step further. My phone knows where I live and work. I haven't told it these things, but right about the time I usually go home, a little notification pops up saying "23 minutes to home". It's an android phone. This means it's also tracking my route home. creepy stuff.

Anyway, it's getting really off topic and I apologize for that. It is safe to assume that both major and minor system changes at YouTube are all designed to increase viewer watch time. Which makes it confusing why their live streaming system is such crap. People love to watch livestreams for hours and hours at a time.

I just noticed this a few days ago. Why?? Its been two months since they took it away, and still nothing. There's been quite a few channels I forgot about because there is no more groups, and making it harder to keep caught up on certain groups of people I'm subscribed too. This is ridiculous.
