Nintendo's new creator program and why you should avoid

It's like they don't even know what youtube is. Do they really think any content creator will delete videos or start a new channel just to cater to Nintendo? It takes years to develop a gaming channel to the point where any profit can be made.

Today they released that they will only split profit on some games (aka the ones no one wants to play). If you're uploading a video on pokemon, smash bros or bayonetta than they will be taking 100%.

LOL

It's funny I've bought around 10 games over the last year from video's, some of which I hadn't heard of, some that had TERRIBLE reviews, but a let's play shone good light on it, I bought it, and I loved it. Now I turn to youtube instead of review sites.

I don't think Nintendo are wrong for doing this at all, but they may not realise the potential of sales from lets players.

Are you serious? Pokemon? I follow about 6 successful popular youtubers that post pokemon battles every day. Are you saying that they can't do that? How are they still up and running?

You can do it, Nintendo will just take 100% of any ad revenue that video might generate. Nintendo takes advantage of people like that, who have a passion for the game and the content over the money.

thats insane to think about.. maybe they get out of it by turning off the music and commentating over it?

By and large, this is the major trick to YouTube game content. The ContentID system can only match like for like. Gameplay is by its very nature visually different every single time, so the only aspects that can be automatically matched are music and cutscenes/loadscreens since those are always the same. This is the best way for those of us working under known fair use to get around the system of unjustified claims. I use game content frequently in my editorials. Because of the nature of editorial news, it falls under fair use, but the removal of the audio track and avoidance of cutscenes is what saves me the headache.
