Nintendo and YouTube?! O_o

IDK Games

Ordinary Gamer
So I just heard that Nintendo is pretty much going to allow you to make videos involving their games or other products as long as you sign up with them and agree for them to take 40% of your revenue from the videos.

I can see how this can be a good thing but also a bad thing. It is a good thing because it means they won't flag down your videos and possibly have them removed from YouTube. However, I can see this is a bad thing as well because if you're making money with YouTube, they're wanting you to pay them 40% of your revenue for basically promoting their videos games or products in your videos.

Why are your guys' thoughts on this?

Wait the percentage they're taking is 40%? I was expecting it to be more around 5%. Well then, guess I'm still boycotting Nintendo for much longer. Unless they remove their content ID claims altogether, otherwise this system is only a very minor advantage. Hopefully the change it.

I love Nintendo more than any other, been with them since the NES. but I won't support the idea because they essentially want us to pay to advertise for them.

It really is irritating, I'd love to support Nintendo, more than Sony & Microsoft but they just don't want to get with the times.

But I thought Partnerships usually took like 30-40%?

I think that Nintendo should allow bigger channels to haggle over the percentage taken with them, I mean if you get 15k views on a video, Nintendo takes 40% of the income, that's quite a lot for a Youtuber, and for Nintendo it's almost nothing, so why not take 20% Nintendo? It's more fair for the Youtuber!

Also I think that this would be cool, if Nintendo gave the Youtuber something else too, like a normal partnership would give you.

It's a good thing that they allow Nintendo gameplays now and you still get the other 60% of the money.
I'm sure that every Network takes a few % of your revenue so that's not new.
It's probably gonna help promoting games and and they get extra money for their games this way.

Didn't they have any money troubles?

This entire Nintendo (MCN?) thing is really stupid. I think it would be a lot more beneficial for YouTubers if they had some type of benefit coming in for the partners. Something as simple as letting out press releases of the latest Nintendo news would be great. So their partners can be ahead of media outlets in reporting all news Nintendo.

Heck, maybe they can give out more review keys to bigger partners. Anything really.

Something like that would allow me to justify their greedy revenue split.

Hah.
Guess I wont be getting myself a Nintendo machine any time soon then.
(Not that I was going to anyway)
