Newbie seeks advice - Potential gaming channel

Hi

So I am looking for advice really. I have a PS3 and enjoy playing games online.

I thought I would chuck up some videos of me recording on to my youtube channel, just in case anybody happens to find my interesting. I dont really expect to earn much if anything, but its worth a try as I have most of the gear and play anyway.

Just a couple of questions really, in terms of the tech.

I presume I need to buy a head set to record my reactions. So how would it all work? I do make some youtube vids with Bandicam.

Would I just put a hdmi link from my television to the laptop and record it? would that also pick up the audio?

Sorry for the very novice question.

Oh also, do you think Sony will be removing the PS3 gaming servers anytime soon?

Thanks

You'd want ideally an El Gato capture card and a microphone before you start.

Though I recommend you don't because we don't need more YouTubers getting in it for the money, like you stated in your post.

Thanks for the advice.

I do see your point, I just thought I would pop some videos up as I play and see if there is interest. Not expecting to earn much if anything.

When you say microphone, do you mean a headset? or is there a specific microphone?

I recommend not using a headset microphone! The blue snowball is a good cheaper option! So is the Samson Go on a Newwer microphone scissor arm stand, I hear. I use a Samson C01U Pro if that helps any!

Thanks, I will look into those. I have worked out the layout (Above) with help from this forum and a quick web search, but how does the microphone connect? does it go into the PS3 and then from there onto the capture card?

You'll need an Elgato capture card, it goes from your tv. to your Ps3 then to your laptop. The laptop records your gameplay then you save it and edit it later on.

- Elgato Card
-Editing software
-Headset

You'll want to edit your gameplay because not many people enjoy watching raw unedited gameplay unless you have a huge viewer base. IF you're just starting out and uploading 30min+ videos people wont even click on your video. STarting a gaming channel right now is difficult man, its a tough world for us gamers. To really succeed you're going to want to pick a specific niche, a specific game to cover or something along those lines. There's literally hundred of thousands of gaming channels now so its tough competition. I'm not a PRO at all, but i've been trying to grow my gaming channel for over a year now.[DOUBLEPOST=1485110209,1485110117][/DOUBLEPOST]

SO the PS3 or Ps4 will pick up your headset, and the capture card basically captures everything from your PS3, TV. So if you have your headset plugged into the PS3 and are talking through it in a "party" on PS3. itll record all of that.

Thanks Brian.

I might just go for a headset at the moment, because I have an idea and it might be cool if I get the other people speaking as well. I agree it would have to be pretty niche. Have done a few random things on my youtube channel already and thinking I would enjoy taking my gaming to youtube with a bit of a twist.

Had a look at your channel by the way, looks very professional. Interesting you did the intro after many other videos. Love the banner design by the way, sweet contrast of blue on gray!

Oh, can you have multiple youtube channels linked to one user and adsense? I might start a new channel for my gaming, as my current content isnt related.

Yea i had an older intro but i made a new one just recently to portray my channel a bit more accurate. Thank you for the kind words man much appreciated! been grinding for forever lol. Yea you can have numerous channels linked to one Adsense account, that's how it's done anyways as far as i understand. But channel wise you'll need multiple emails for different channels.
