Have this feature, it's sorta like annotations except that it has a custom "animation" for stuff and is set into whatever area is defined by youtube for that particular feature.
 
I've been using cards for a few months, the biggest advantage the cards has over annotations is that cards work on all devices. This is very important considering that 80% of my viewers DON'T watch on a desktop computer any more.

Whereas traditional annotations don't always work on tablets, phones, television, and game console views.

You can link to approved sites. I have used them to direct people to Spreadshirt and BlogSpot. You can also link to an official business site or the official site of your channel if you have one.

The other cool thing about cards is that you can have a pop-up graphic come up with the message. So I can put in a pop-up message like "Like Addie's shirt? Buy one!" and if they hover over the "information" button a picture of the T-shirt will come up. (see attached screenshot example) Pretty cool option!
