New Content

The one that wears the cardigans
So I've been uploading bass covers on my channel for over a year now (go to my channel if you don't know what they are) and recently I have been wondering if I should start uploading different content every now and again. Maybe some vlogs or gaming videos? What do you guys think?

though change can be nice, if you feel like it suites you, keep at it, I heard a few things on your soundcloud, you have some good ideas but you certainly need to polish your chords and get things sounding more professional, if you keep up what you're doing, you can easily do that.

changing courses on your channel may keep you from it longer.

You can add new direction(s) to your channel but you have to consider 2 things:
- Most of the people don't like mixed channels (like covers and gaming, they are really different), so you might want to consider having another channel,
- If you decide to start uploading different kind of content you might lose some subscribers, because that's not what they have subscribed for.

Although I have a first hand experience that a switch in direction can be successful - in the beginning I uploaded electric guitar instrumental covers to my channel then I started to get more and more into solo acoustic guitar and after I saw that those few videos of the new type of content I had brought in much more views than the old ones, I decided to switch and it was like one of the best decisions of my life. :)

it all depends on how you feel your channel is going. I'd advise to separate to another channel either vlogs or gaming because they're really different from music.

Thanks for all the feedback, I don't want to have to create a second channel at the moment as I don't have many active subscribers on my current channel so building up another fan-base from scratch would be too hard and would involve having to upload regularly and I don't have time to film a load of extra videos at the moment. I'm going to put out an update video that tells people want i'm going to be doing and i'm only going to be uploading other content every now and then (probably like twice a month at most) so i'll just upload it onto my current channel but if people want to see more vlogs/gaming then I will create a new channel specifically for that[DOUBLEPOST=1393539837,1393539507][/DOUBLEPOST]

Thanks for the feedback but I just thought I would mention that I am not playing the chords, they are played by garageband

-GARAGE BAND IMMINENT-

for the love of all things, want to become better quicker? get another daw! please!

What do you guys think?

Why do you think people want to watch YOU play your guitar? Except for die-hard guitarists, even professional guitar players know no one wants to actually watch them play their instruments. That's why KISS dressed up in their costumes, put on make-up, and put on a big show. That's why even the legendary Paul McCartney puts on a big light and fireworks display when he performs. Do a YouTube search on "Paul McCartney & WINGS - Live & Let Die".

If you want a lot of views, give us a visual that matches your music for us to watch while we listen to you play. If you want TONS of views and you got a upbeat song, get some attractive girls in bikinis doing silly stuff while your music plays. Bikini water balloon fights are always a good draw. Got an insanely fast pace song, film the bikini babes doing a Benny Hill chase scene. Heck, do a cover of the Benny Hill theme song for that video. For mellow songs, you cannot go wrong with puppies and/or kittens frolicking about. Add an attractive woman in a bikini and you've got YouTube gold. And then thumbnail the most racy frame of that entire video and not you playing your guitar.

Seriously, you need to give people something to look at other than yourself playing your guitar.

Well considering I have over 9,000 views there must be some people that want to watch me play my bass, plus I know a fair few youtubers who do exactly the same thing as me and one of those people has over 1 million views on one of their videos and over 60k subscribers so it is possible to gain lots of views, it's also a good way for people to learn how to play songs so that's why they watch the videos. Plus it's something that I enjoy doing and at the moment I'm not to fussed about gaining loads of subscribers.

Finally I don't believe in exploiting women by making them wear bikinis in order for me to gain views on Youtube.

You were seeking input. I gave input.

I was joking. Note the first word in the last sentence.
