New 6 Second Unskippable Ads

According to an article just posted on CNET, YouTube will be introducing new 6 second unskippable ads primarily to mobile viewers on tablets and phones. I assume YouTube Red will still be ad-free.

Maybe they want to increase the length, one second at a time?

In any case, people will still use adblockers to block those ads.

If, according to their announcement blurb, these ads are going to be played on all mobile views, then it'll be interesting to see what effect it'll have on adsense earnings. The majority of YT views now come from mobile users, so any increase in ads, especially video ads which pay better, should see a rise in earnings .. or am I missing something?

I thought you only got paid if they clicked on the ad but I may be wrong.

Not sure, with the current non-skippable ads, the viewer must watch the entire 15+ second ad for you to be paid & I should imagine these new ones will be the same, only shorter .. so!?!

More than 70% of the views on our channel come from mobile devices (just around half an year ago). This will be "interesting" update. :)
